Installment #1...

Well, its that time of year and racing season is upon us. I set here tonight listening to Jr. and Donny broadcast the USMTS show from Humboldt and it got me thinking. This is one of my most favorite timesof the year, racing season gets started and big shows are up first. Now getting to see these big shows is just a part of the enjoyment as the other half is the trips to and from these shows. During the trips to these big shows some of the most off the wall debates and conversations take place. I always look forward to travelling with Jr., Ronny and Donny Reed (Reed bros.) as I will laugh alot and generally set the mood for the night.

During this upcoming season my schedule is pretty much set for me as I return to what I believe to one of the premiere tracks in the midwest Lakeside Speedway. I have been doing this for 4 years now and I feel honored to be behind the mic. Also, I once again will be working with Harriet and Cowboy Chancellor with the Lucas Oil MLRA series this year. Harriet and Cowboy have worked very hard to make this one of the premiere touring series in the midwest and with the addition of Lucas Oil as the title sponsor is reward for the hard work and efforts. I have also been hired to work at one of my favorite tracks in the area and one that I really feel is going the right direction. That would be Thunderhill Speedway. I have really wanted to work there for along time, as that is where I had my first announcing job in 2000.

Thunderhill Speedway as you may or may not know is now under new ownership with the Conkright family stepping in as role of new owners. When you first hit the speedway you can't miss all of the improvments already made to the facility and the friendly atmosphere gives off the luster that Thunderhill once had. During the staff meeting I attended it was a very positive to see the whole Conkright family speak and have an active role to make this a successful venture. Look for big things to come out of Thunderhill this summer as alot of different things will be happening and several specials are on tap that have been added to the schedule.

As the season rolls on I will be adding to my column on with what is happening at these two tracks and giving updates on the MLRA and what ever may happen in between. I also will be catching a few midweek specials as time allows. Now if we can just get the weather to work with us!
