NEW TRACK IN ATCHISON, KS?

Phil Birkinsha is the Owner and Promoter of the New “ATCHISON COUNTY RACEWAY” and he is looking forward to opening the Raceway for the 2010 Racing Season.

The track will be a High Bank “D” shape ¼ mile with the “D” being on the front straight, Phil said the track will remind you of the old Savannah Speedway in Savannah MO. The track will be 60 to 65 feet wide all the way around and have banking like THUNDERHILL SPEEDWAY in the turns. There will be VIP suites in the tower and most if not all the walkways will be paved . The Grand Stands will seat 2000 fans. Phil also told me he has all the equipment needed to prep and maintain the Speedway as needed.

Phil is planning on racing under IMCA Sanction for the 2010 season and A-mods, Sportmods, Streetstocks and Hobbystocks will be the classes on hand each night of racing. As of now he will run a Friday Night Program but, he did tell me he would like to talk to HEARTLAND PARK TOPEKA and try to work something out so there could be a possibility of maybe 3-nights of IMCA racing in the area. He also said that he would let HPT if they wanted to try something like this have there choice of Friday or Sunday night first, and then make adjustments as needed for a Sunday Night Program if HPT wanted Friday nights. NOW THERES A THOUGHT track promoters all working TOGATHER. It would be nice to see 3 Tracks 80 miles apart from each other all working toward one goal “SUCSESS IN NUMBERS”. Just think about the possibilities if this was to happen.

I have also been ask by Phil to be the Head Tech Official at “ACR” and I have said Yes, and I am looking forward to seeing some old as well as some new faces at the Raceway. I am also looking forward to helping Phil make the Track a HUGE SUCSESS in 2010.

As things become available to me I will keep everyone informed and once I get to see the Track I will take some pictures so everyone can see what is going on.
