Busy Month For C.A.R.B. In August
The month of August brings a busy three weeks for the Central Auto Racing Boosters. This Saturday, August 7, is C.A.R.B. Night at Valley Speedway. The following week, August 14, the I-35 Speedway C.A.R.B. Night will be held. On August 21, the annual Old Timers Picnic will occur at Lakeside Speedway.
On C.A.R.B. Nights, members with a current membership card (cost is $10 annual dues) are allowed into the grandstands free. In august a member gets in free at two tracks for the price of the membership. Race drivers who are members and make the A feature receive an end of the night bonus of $15.00. Additionally, at intermission the C.A.R.B. Larry Kaster Driver Appreciation Awards are given to a lucky finisher in a heat race of each class of car in competition.
Letters are in the mail to the old timers. This event is in its fifth year and has grown each year. Last year we began the process of RSVP so we could plan food appropriately. This year we continue the RSVP process as we have hired HyVee Food Store of Lee's Summit to cater this event, so when you receive your invitation old timers make sure you RSVP as requested.
Hopefully we will see several people at all these events. Remember the Central Auto Racing Boosters will be raffling a 1972 El Camino at the banquet on December 4, 2010. Cost for a raffle ticket is $20 or you can get a bonus of six tickets for $100. Purchasing the six pack option makes a person eligible for a free ride in the two seat Grand National at Lakeside or I-35 Speedways. All proceeds will be applied towards our Hall of Fame museum fund.
