Deaton Wins Mod Feature At Humboldt
With rain that canceled Friday Night races, driver's were geared up to put on a heck of a show on Sunday.
Starting the evening was Pure Stock with Andy Davis and Roger Oswald winning their heat races. Putting them on the pole of the main event. Oswald jumped out in the early lead to go all the way to victory lane. Jeremy Willard was a late arrival missing the heat races, but was able to walk away with second place in the feature. Mike Aiello, tony Morris and Floyd Taggart followed close behind to round out the top 5 spots.
Blake Davis and Brandon Weide claimed first spot in their heat races putting them in front of the rest of the fileld in the Factory Stock field. Davis was able to get around Weide with four laps to go and to take home the hardware. Matt Weints out of Dewey, Ok made his move with 3 laps to go to pick up second spot, while Weide settled for third. Chris Weldon stayed close behind to pick up fourth, and Scott Lucke who was in a heat race pile up was able to salvage his ride to finish fifth.
With the Vintage cars making their first appearance this season, vetran driver Jack Simmons who has drove in every class available throughout his racing career was able to walk away with another win under his belt, while his son Keith Simmons picked up second spot. Joe Martin was able to finish third, while John Wilhit and Russ Moyer was fourth and fifth.
Riley Whitworth and Nathan Ellison walked away with first place heat finishes in B-Mod action , setting them both up for 3rd and 4th positions in the main event. Levi McGowen starting pole position was able to jump out in the early lead challenged by Whitworth all the way, with these two having a big lead the caution flag came out. With only 4 laps to go Jay Lamons was able to get the jump on Whitworth in the restart. McGowen crossed the checker line first with Lamons second, and Whitworth third. Scott Collins starting fifth was able to take home fourth and Nathan Ellison fifth.
Chris Deaton from Wann, Oklahoma was definately the fastest car in the Modified division. Winning his heat along with Dennis Bishop finishing first in the 2nd heat. Deaton was able to take the early lead in the main event for all 20 laps, but not without a tough challenge by the Fast Orange 9D Scott Daniels. Scott finished second in his heat and finished second in the main event. Ryan Whitworth who has had some bad luck the last couple of weeks got the kinks worked out. Starting eigth in the feature and slicing his way through traffic to finish third, Gary Langworthy from Coffeyville and a strong competitor at the Hummer followed behind Whitworth for fourth. Lucas Conley driving the #17 started tenth and moved up to fifth.
Regular Races this friday night, Saturday will mark the beginning of Go-Karts with there playday on the Mini-Hummer from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
