MLRA LATE MODELS RETURN TO THUNDER HILL JUNE 16

One of the highlights of the Northeast Kansas racing season is the annual arrival of the Lucas Oil MLRA Late Model Series at Thunder Hill. The match of the fastest dirt track stock cars and the fastest high-banked track in the area always makes for spectacular racing, and this year’s edition should be no exception.

Last weekend, Billy Moyer Jr. prevailed in the series’ visit to LA Raceway in LaMonte, Missouri, but John Anderson still left with the point lead. He is trailed by perennial MLRA star David Turner, Kevin Sather, Will Vaught, Jesse Stovall, Mark Dotson, Terry Phillips, Chad Simpson, Bill Leighton, and Bryon Allison. Anderson, who has won several races at Thunder Hill, will be looking to defend his point lead.

Also in action will be four classes from the Xtreme Motor Sports Clash on the Hill. The BSB Manufacturing IMCA Modifieds, the Heinen Repair Service IMCA Stock Cars, the Kansas National Guard IMCA Northern Sport Mods, and the BuyRaceParts.com IMCA Hobby stocks will all be competing. The IMCA Sport Compacts will have the night off.

Of course, this weekend continues the Xtreme Motor Sports Clash on the Hill. Last week, Jordan Grabouski just eked out a feature win in the IMCA Modifieds, while Kyle Vanover continued his season-long domination of the IMCA Stock Car Class. Kyle Olberding won the IMCA Northern Sport Mods, Brandon Johnson won the IMCA Hobby Stocks, and Scott Spellmeier won the IMCA Sport Compact feature.

The Xtreme Motor Sports Clash on the Hill continues Saturday Night, June 9, with the popular Ladies’ Night promotion. Ladies will be admitted to the grandstands free. Gates open at 5:00 PM, driver’smeeting at 6:30, hotlaps and races to follow. Adult General Admission is $10.00, kids 12 and under are free. Coolers are allowed (Canned beer only – no glass bottles) for a $10 charge. Pit passes are $25.00.

The MLRA Late Models will be in town Saturday night, June16.

Thunder Hill Speedway is located at 11995 NW 142nd Road (2 miles West of US-75 on NW 142nd Road), in Mayetta, KS. For more information, please visit www.racethunderhillspeedway.com.
