I have mixed feelings about this topic. On one hand it is an entry level class, but what does a guy who has no mechanical talent do when wanting to race? He goes out and buys a chassis from someone that knows how to build a racecar. I think that kind of tweaks the nose of a purist racer, but it is the smart thing to do. I recently threw my hat in the ring, got a car together (built by someone else) and started to race. I cannot imagine how it would have went if I didn't have the support network I have. Other racers, mechanics are resources that take time to build up and some people just want to drive.
I have no problem with someone buying a chassis to race. What I do have a problem with is people edging the rules knowing what they are doing is wrong both in the letter of the rules and the spirit of the rules. Notice I did not say that I have a problem with racing programs that can afford to put as much money as possible (within the rules) into their cars. That is just human nature.
