Sunday Action Kicks Off Racing At I-35 Speedway

I-35SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY, the United States Modified Touring Series along with the USRA B Mods and USRA Stock Cars invade I-35 Speedway for an exciting evening of racing. The March 22 event will see the pit gates open at 3 P.M., the front gate open at 4 p.m., hot laps at 5:30, racing at 6 P.M. Adult tickets are $18, kids ages 6-12 are $5 and those under 6 years old get in for free. Pit passes are $35. I-35 Speedway is located 10 miles north of Cameron at exit 64 off Interstate 35.

After last Sunday’s 100 car practice the track is primed and ready, packed and graded awaiting the best of the best in the Modifieds, the B Mods, and the Stock Cars. This will be a show to start your local racing season. Come see points leader Austin Arneson, along with Dereck Ramirez, Jesse Sobbing, Jason Hughes, Zack Vanderbeek and the other USMTS drivers take on the future of our sport which include young drivers Austin and Houston Johnson.

Two-time USRA Stock Car national champion Mitch Hovden of Decorah, Iowa, is the two-time defending Holley Iron Man Series USRA Stock Car champion. Other former champions include Tom Schmitt (2012), Mike Van Genderen (2011) and Nathan Wood (2010). Local drivers including Kevin Anderson will be in competition representing the local USRA drivers.

Cory Crapser of Chippewa Falls, Wis., captured his second straight Holley Iron Man Series title for the USRA B-Mods in 2014. Other former champions include Trevor Hunt (2012) and Cayden Carter (2011). Local hot shoes Mike Higley, Chad Clancy, and Ed Noll may also be in attendance.

Drivers in the Stock Car and B Mod classes also earn national points in the USRA Weekly Racing Series. Make it a point to be at I-35 Speedway this Sunday.
