SALINA, Kan. — Three weeks ago racing returned to the Salina Speedway for only the second time in 2015. Opening night was three weeks before that night, and in all seven out of eight scheduled events have been affected by rain.

It only seems fitting that this week the show gets in, as the focus will be on fund raising for Chloe Nelson.

Chloe has a germ cell cancer, a yolk sac tumor in her right ovary. Her tube and ovary were removed January 6th but pathology on January 9th came back malignant. She started chemo at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City on January 23rd.

The night’s 50/50 effort will go towards off setting medical costs for Chloe and her family, as well as any donations that will gladly be accepted.

On the track five divisions will highlight the evening, with the Auto House Mod Lite division taking center stage with two features, the first being the make up feature from May 22nd with a complete show after that. Defending champion Justin Kinderknecht holds the early points lead after only one event, and hopes to negate a flip in heat race action back on May 22nd, which will start him near the back of the field for the makeup feature.

The 1st Class Chassis IMCA Modifieds will be back at it with defending Champion Mike Petersilie at the top of the two event point standings by two points over Corey Lagroon. Topeka driver Danny Holt holds down third with race one winner Danny Morrison tied for fourth with Robert Shepard. Larry Sutton picked up his first feature win on the season and in quite awhile in the rain shortened feature back on May 22nd.

In one event on the season Daniel Gottschalk leads the standings of the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Northern SportMod division after his week one win. Veteran Rodger Peck holds down second with Kurtis Pihl, Brenden Damon, and Chad Markley rounding out the top five.

Tommy Fose holds down the point of the Budweiser IMCA Hobby Stock division after his week one win. Travis Coop, Duane Wahrman, Aaron McBride, and Mark Normandin hold down the top five in a very competitive division for 2015.

M&H Motors IMCA Sport Compacts will try to get in another event this week as well after having a few washed away. Ellis driver Randy Murphy picked up the first ever IMCA sanctioned win in the division back on May 1st. Art Herzog, Art Bird, Dallas Dunn, and David Pfiester finish out the top five so far on a one race season.

Pit gates are set to open at 5:00PM on Friday with grandstands opening at 5:30PM. Hot laps start at 7:15PM with racing to follow!

Adult admission is $10, kids 15 & under are FREE every week as well! Seniors 55 & up are HALF PRICE, and Military both current and retired are FREE as well!
