WHEATLAND, MO (Septemer 1st, 2015) – A busy weekend of racing awaits the competitors of the Lucas Oil MLRA, with stops at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas and Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. Friday’s tilt pays the winner $3,000, while Saturday’s race recently received a bump in pay, with the winner receiving $5,075 and start money advancing to $500.

Friday night marks the 30th appearance by the Lucas Oil MLRA at Lakeside Speedway. Saturday is the Lucas Oil MLRA Larry Phillips Memorial Presented by G2 Gemini Apparel.

Larry Phillips is widely regarded as one of the best short track racers in the history of the sport. He excelled on both dirt and asphalt surfaces. Phillips is the only five time NASCAR Weekly Racing Series National Champion. He was a first ballot Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame inductee and has been nominated for the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

Larry’s son, Terry Phillips, is leading the season long Lucas Oil MLRA Championship Standings. Jesse Stovall is hot on the heels of Phillips in second. Jason Utter, RC Whitwell and Ryan Gustin complete the balance of the top five.

Saturday also features another special bonus courtesy of Lawless Harley Davidson®. Lawless will award an extra $500 as well as an Official Harley-Davidson® branded Leather Coat & Lawless branded T-shirt to the MLRA Hard Charger on Saturday, September 5th at the Larry Phillips Memorial.

Jeff Cheek, owner of Lawless Harley-Davidson┬« states, “I credit Larry for my love of short track racing and I wanted to honor his hard charging style with some incentives to the MLRA competitors.” Thousands of drivers and fans would agree with Cheek as Phillips has left a legacy few can compete with.

The Diamond Drag Boat Nationals are also taking place at Lucas Oil Speedway this weekend. Saturday competitors may purchase their pit pass early in the day and take in the speed, sights and sounds happening on the adjacent Lake Lucas. Fans arriving before 5 PM may purchase one ticket for the entire day. Those arriving after 5 PM may purchase a ticket, at a reduced price, for the dirt race only. The pits are open all weekend for teams to arrive and park at their discretion. For more information on admission for Saturday visit, LucasOilSpeedway.com.

“With just four Lucas Oil MLRA races left this year, it’s a critical weekend for teams looking to seal their fate for the year,” commented Series Director Dan Robinson. “This is always a huge weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway and we’re glad to include Lakeside Speedway into the mix this year. It should be terrific shows at both places. We’d like to welcome all the fans in the region to join us this weekend, hopefully for both shows and the drag bots too.”

This weekend is also another Kenny’s Tile Bonus weekend. Kenny’s will present each Lucas Oil MLRA winner with an additional $500.
