Mayetta, KS – Mother Nature can be a fickle individual. Sometimes you wait for something you want to happen only for her to give you a dose of medicine and it wipes out all your plans. That is exactly what Mother Nature did to the everyone looking to go to Thunder Hill Speedway last Saturday night for, what was scheduled, for opening night.

What a difference a week makes! This Saturday night everything looks beautiful and the racers, fans and workers are ready to go. Even Kenny Schrader is ready to go!

That’s right the same Kenny Schrader that raced in NASCAR for all those years.

Schrader cut his teeth driving on the short tracks of Missouri before embarking on a long career in NASCAR. He may have made it to the top of the mountain, but he never forgot where his true love really was at; the dirt tracks.

Nowadays you can find Schrader racing more than 100 nights in a year all on dirt. This Saturday night, May 7th, he will bring his Federated Auto Parts IMCA Modified to Thunder Hill Speedway and see how he stacks up against the locals.

It will definitely be a fun night.

Last weekend’s rain out will give fans a chance to get caught up on Thunder Hill Speedway once again….

Fans will see some new things that have been done around Thunder Hill Speedway. The owners of the track have added to the facility every year since the Conkwright family purchased the facility. Some things are obvious to the eye and some aren’t so obvious. What can be said is that the facility is growing and that is a good thing.

This season fans will notice a new title sponsor for the track, Big Time Bail Bonds.

Big Time Bail Bonds owners Ryan & Doreen Weekley have been a big supporter of sponsoring area teams, events and more. Their passion for motorsports has been evident since day 1 in their marketing plan as several racers have benefited from Big Time Bail Bonds sponsorship. This year they have stepped aboard and have become the title sponsor for the Big Time Bail Bonds Clash on the Hill.

The one thing that everyone has come to love about Thunder Hill in the past is the great racing action. IMCA racing will once again continue this season and the action is looking to heat up in a big way.

Once again 4 weekly classes will be the core of the Big Time Bail Bonds Clash on the Hill.

The BSB Manufacturing IMCA Modifieds, Buds Auto Service IMCA Stock Cars, JAG Trucking IMCA Northern Sport Mods and the Casey’s General Store IMCA Hobby Stocks will be the 4 weekly classes.

When we last left Thunder Hill Speedway in 2015 there was a lot to talk about.

Steven Bowers Jr. celebrated a triumphant return to full-time racing at Thunder Hill Speedway in 2015. Bowers rode a series of victories to take home the championship. A very tough task considering the stiff competition that shows up weekly.

The BSB MFG. IMCA Modifieds at Thunder Hill Speedway averaged nearly 24 cars per night and it quickly became one of the fan favorites. Great racing action, awesome racers and their will to push the limits with their hot rods kept the fans coming back. Don’t expect any less from the class in 2016.

Dominic Thyfault was a rookie in the Buds Auto Service IMCA Stock Cars last year. Fans couldn’t tell he was a rookie. Thyfault rode a wave of strong finishes to become the 2015 champion. Just as it was in the Modified ranks, the Stock Car division got ‘Ultra’ competitive last year rather quickly. Every week there was some kind of fantastic finish.

Thyfault and the rest of the drivers will be ready to go Saturday night and the fans won’t be disappointed! This class is fun to watch.

Every now and then you witness something special. Even if you didn’t realize that it was something very special.

Tyler Frye was special. Frye put up double digit wins on the season (including the 1st 8 in a row)in the JAG Trucking IMCA Northern Sport Mods before going on to the track championship and the National Champion too. Frye put up the great numbers and he gave the fans something to watch for each and every week.

This year the competition can relax for a split second as Frye has moved on to the Modified division.

With Frye out of the picture it could be anyone’s game when it came to the Northern Sport Mod division. A host of drivers are ready to take their chance at getting to the King of the Hill.

There was a big 2 car battle in the Casey’s General Store IMCA Hobby Stock class last season. Tyler Garst and Tommy Fose had a shootout to the end. Unfortunately, it didn’t go the way Fose would have liked. A huge crash on the back stretch on the white flag lap saw the scales tip in favor of Tyler Garst. Not a bad way to win a championship. A good points battle keeps the fans even more interested in the races each and every week.

Saturday night the gates open at 5:00 p.m. and the drivers meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and the racing goes green shortly after that.

Adult tickets are $10.00 and kids 12 and under are FREE! Fans that choose to bring a cooler in can as long as all the cooler has in it is canned beer.

Come out Saturday night and get ready for all of the action during the Big Time Bail Bonds Clash on the Hill and as an added bonus see NASCAR great Kenny Schrader battle it out in the BSB Manufacturing IMCA Modified division.
