Mayetta, KS – Last week was another good night of why Thunder Hill Speedway is what it is…. A GREAT RACING FACILITY!

The action on the speedway is exactly what the fans wanted. Passing, dominating performances and close finishes are what any fan (and track owner) wants.

This Saturday night, May 21st, Thunder Hill Speedway (only 3 races in on the 2016 season) is going to bring an addition to their already awesome IMCA lineup that consists of the BSB Manufacturing IMCA Modifieds, Bud’s Auto Service IMCA Stock Cars, JAG Trucking IMCA N. Sport Mods and the Casey’s General Store IMCA Hobby Stocks. The NCRA/NeSmith Late Models will be the added bonus for fans to enjoy this week.

Late Models of the caliber of the NCRA/NeSmith bunch will add another great race to the field. Each time this bunch was at Thunder Hill last season it was definitely a fan favorite. This year should be no different.

What Happened Last Week at the Big Time Bail Bonds Clash on The Hill…
Last week it was nail biting action in each and every race. Bryan Rigsby pulled off the move of the night splitting the top 2 cars to take the win in the IMCA N. Sport Mod Feature. In a similar fashion Jordan Grabouski used a late race pass of Steven Bowers Jr. and Justin Jergens to roll to the victory in the IMCA Mod main event. Matt Haid needed to onlyh lead the last 300 feet of the IMCA Stock Car Feature to get his 2nd win of the season. Nicholas Ronnebaum was the only clear cut winner last week as he put together a strong performance winning the IMCA Hobby Stock event.

Setting the Table For This Week!

BSB Manufacturing Modified Notes…
The hard luck award on the night had to go to Steven Bowers Jr. Bowers led a majority of the feature only to see his hood come up on the last yellow of the night. The problem caused Bowers enough problems he fell from the top spot.
Jordan Grabouski showed that he is still stronger than ever has he won after starting the feature in 13th.
It was a tough night for Darron Fuqua. Sure he finished 6th, but that wasn’t it. At the start of the race another car came down on Fuqua spinning him to the infield. He didn’t draw a yellow and fell a ways back. He began to move forward and was inside the top 8 when a yellow came out. On the restart Fuqua jumped and was sent to the back of the pack. As the race went green he was able to climb all the way back to 6th.
Rookie to IMCA racing, Mike Eisenhut, had a good run last week going from 21st to 11th.
22 was the number of IMCA Modifieds that checked in to battle it out last Saturday night.

Modified Driver To Watch This Week…. Clay Hale #22H, Cameron, MO.

In the world of IMCA Modifieds, Clay Hale is a name to be familiar with. Hale is liable to travel anywhere for a race and he is going to be considered a front runner anywhere he goes. Last week Hale was moving forward but seemed to stall out late before finishing 3rd. Not bad after starting 9th on the grid. In a world of tough racers at Thunder Hill Speedway in the Modified division, Hale has just made it even tougher. Watch for Mr. Hale to be hanging around the front of the pack this week again.

Buds Auto Service IMCA Stock Car Notes…
Matt Haids win last week made him the 1st repeat winner of 2016. Haid had a good night, but with the core of competition that this class has look for more winners in the coming weeks.
The mover from last week’s feature was Leif Weyer. Weyer went from 22nd to 12th in the feature.
Geoff Jermark took the long way around the feature last week. A couple of set backs early found this ace working his way up from the back of the back. In the end he was 1 spot shy of a top 5 finish.
22 was the magic number in the IMCA Stock Cars as 22 drivers checked in for duty last Saturday night.

Stock Car Driver to Watch This Week…. Geoff Jermark #9J, Beloit, KS.

Jermark is a fast runner. It seemed odd last week when he jumped the opening start of the A Main. Going to the back didn’t hurt him that bad. With 22 racers on the track he was able to work his way up to 6th in the end. Jermark is a fast competitor. As he spends more time at Thunder Hill Speedway look for him to get faster. If he starts towards the front and keeps his nose clean you just might see him in victory lane. It

JAG Trucking IMCA Northern Sport Mod Notes…
22 was the magic number in the Sport Mods last week too! It was a running theme. 22 racers put on one of the best finishes of the season last week.
Bryan Rigsby, with the win, gave Thunder Hill Speedway it’s 2nd different winner in just 2 races this season so far. The field of drivers that race on a weekly basis this number is surely going to grow throughout the season.
Brian Murphy was the hard charger of the night going from 22nd to 10th in the feature.
Transitioning from division to division can be tough. Kyle Stallbaumer has raced in the Modified, Stock Car and now Sport Mod divisions at Thunder Hill Speedway. Last week he showed he is going to be a force to be reckoned with as he drove from 17th to 5th tying Murphy for the hard charger award.

Northern Sport Mod Driver To Watch This Week…. Bryce Frakes #27, Valley Falls, KS.

Bryce is a racer that has been improving from year to year. Last week his improvement was evident as he led more than 85 percent of the feature event. He would go on to finish 4th, but it shouldn’t be long before we see him in victory lane once again. It appears that more time behind the wheel is beneficial and Frakes is soaking all of it in. Keep an eye on him this Saturday night it just might be his night.

Casey’s General Store IMCA Hobby Stock Notes…
Nicholas Ronnebaum looked like the driver who won multiple races last season at Thunder Hill Speedway. Ronnebaum ran away with the feature.
A week after winning his 1st feature, Ryan Sutter, got back to his string of top 5 finishes as he rode to a 5th place finish.
A pair of newcomers Mark Saathoff and Jason Cleveland celebrated strong runs in their first visit to Thunder Hill Speedway.
18 was the magic number of racers entered into last Saturday night’s race at Thunder Hill.

Hobby Stock Driver To Watch This Week….Koby Minnis #112, Topeka, KS.

Last season an unfortunate ‘Bull Riding’ accident resulted in a badly broken ankle for Koby Minnis! It hindered his growth as a driver not being able to get behind the wheel. This season he is putting all of his efforts in to his Hobby Stock career. Minnis has left the PBR Tour for good and is loving every minute of his new ride. Last week he pulled off a heat race win and had his best feature finish ever coming home in 6th. With a great amount of knowledge and respect for racing look for this Seaman High student to only get better with age. This week might be an even better week than the last.
