Ziegler Doubles Down at Central Missouri Speedway with Badder, Lyle, and Glotzbach also Claiming Main Events!

(Warrensburg, MO) Warm evening weather greeted race fans and drivers on Comfort Inn, Warrensburg Station race night at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS). The smooth high-banked racing surface with 67 ready to go drivers produced some exciting race competition for the fans throughout the evening.

The make-up Street Stock feature from May 21 had Brian Ziegler from Bates City for his second CMS feature win of the season and his overall career 49th career victory. Then, during the weekly feature events, Shad Badder from Blue Springs claimed the USRA Modified feature.

The B-Modified feature had Chad Lyle from Oak Grove driving the Gary Fane-owned machine his first win of the season along with his 60th career CMS win. Brain Ziegler from Bates City survived a mid-race accident by several drivers to grab his second feature of the night in the Street Stocks. Byron Glotzbach from Topeka started the weekly feature events with his first CMS double checkers win this season in the Pure Stocks.

Starting off the night was the May 21 Make-up Street Stock feature as Brian Ziegler jumped out as the early race leader with pressure from Troy Turley, Brian Eckhoff, and Jay Prevete. Brett Wood and Clayton Campbell moved up through the field as the race progressed and as the race for second ensued, Wood moved up into third and passed Prevete to challenge for the lead

On lap eight, Ziegler finally moved up into the top spot. After the lap nine restart, Wood looked to the inside of turn four several times but couldn’t quite solidify the pass. Ziegler hung on for the second of the season and 49th career win. Wood crossed the finish line in second, followed by Prevette, and Campbellhangs on to second with Prevette and Campbell following. Brian Inlow moved up into fifth on the last lap.

The Pure Stocks opened the heat racing action with 12 drivers registered for competition. Byron Glotzbach grabbed the first heat win in front of Darrin Christy and Lee Scott. For heat two, Roger Detherage claimed the win with Jeremiah Wilson and Derek Williams following.

In the Pure Stock main event, Glotzbach grabbed the early lead with Deatherage and Christy running close behind until the first caution appeared on lap two when Wilson stopped in turn four. After the restart Rob Gard hit the front side wall tires and departed the track with additional mechanical problems. After another restart GLotzbach held off Christy as he tried the low and high side to pass GLotzbach. GLotzbach prevailed for his first CMS feature win with Christy just behind in second. Roger Deatherage, the points leader looked strong in third with Derek Williams and Don Johnson completing the top five.

Chad Stauss picked up the win in heat one followed by Curtis Berry and Bobby Russell. In heat two, Troy Carlyle claimed the top spot ahead of Chad Lyle and Kaleb Bray. In the final heat Jacob Ebert crossed the finish line ahead of Jake Richards and Doug Wetzel

The B-Mod main began as Chad Lyle drove the Gary Fain-owned machine towards the front from and Curtis Berry charged hard into the first turn as Lyle drove out of turn two with the early lead. Staus and Troy Carlyle fought in the top four behind Lyle. Staus then moved into second to work on Lyle until his engine expired on lap 12. Staus pulled off into the infield as Lyle continued in the top spot. As the checkers flew, Lyle gained his 60th career CMS feature win with current points leader, Troy Carlyle well behind in second. Jacob Ebert, in his back-up rose to third with Curtiss Berry, Jake Richards rounding out the top five.

In the Street Stocks division, 14 drivers retuned to face off for another weekly championship series event. Brett Wood holds the point lead and also posted a strong finish in the B-Mod main event. he two heat race winners last night included Jay Prevete ahead of Brian Inlow and Troy Turley in the heat one. Brett Wood grabbed the second and final heat race with Clayton Campbell Brian Ziegler following.

As the green flag flew for the feature, Brian Inlow led the field earl on with Jay Prevete taking the high side of the track. Campbell and Wood also were stalking the top two as the laps started to add up. By lap five, Inlow was still leading with Prevete on his tail and Brian Ziegler now up into the top three. On lap seven as cars tried to avoid Inlow sliding up into the high side, Brett Wood and Brian Eckhoff both flipped their cars with Wood landing on his wheels in turn four after barrel rolling several times. Eckhoff ended up over turn four on his roof.

The emergency crews responded immediately and found both drivers uninjured and alert, but their night of racing was done. After the restart, Ziegler inherited the lead and took command of the race followed closely by Campbell and Troy Turley. As the double checkers flew, Ziegler claimed his second win of the night and his career 50th. Allen Perryman on his first night returning to racing grabbed a solid second with Campbell, Turley and Ted Welschmeyer in the top five.

This week in the always competitive USRA modified heat races the fans were one again entertained to exciting racing action to see if their favorites try and capitalize on maximum passing points for feature starting positions. Brian Johnson edged out Kyle Covert and Steve Twenter in heat one. Danny Scrogham crossed the finish line ahead of Nathan Vaughn and Kevin Blackburn in heat two. The final heat of the evening had Shad taking the victory.

The 23 USRA modified drivers once again exhibited their excellent driving skills as Scrogham led the early portion of the 25-lap feature to start the feature. Badder kept the pressure on him and passed for lead around lap five. Badder then took control as several drivers including Aaron Marrant eventually moved into second as he passed Scrogham. No one had anything for Badder in the end as he set a torrid pace to sail to his first feature event win of the year.

Badder proved to be resilient as the double checkers flew for his first this year. Marrant hung on to second while Kevin Blackburn scored another top three finish in third. Gunner Martin moved up later in the race into a fourth place finish while Terry Schultz once again came on strong in the reace’s later stage as he secured fiith in the final rundown.
