Kansas City, KS – Friday night racing action at Lakeside Speedway showed the fans several different types of performances.

Chad Lyle came out of the gate early and took the lead in the USRA Modified Feature. Lyle would hang on to the top spot until a yellow would come out on lap 3. As the field got back underway the points leader and last feature winner, Kerry Davis, took over the top spot.

At the top spot Davis, who had 2 wins on the season coming into Friday night, took to the point and held everyone at bay all race long. Davis wouldn’t run away from the competition as yellow flags would hinder the progress of Davis. Darron Fuqua and Aaron Marrant were behind Davis the whole way.

Each time a yellow would come out Fuqua and Marrant would look to mount a charge, but Davis answered the bell each and every time.

Davis would sprint to the finish picking off his 3rd win of the season.

Fuqua would settle on the runner-up spot, 3rd went to Marrant, Mark Schafman, a 2x feature winner, raced his way from 9th to 4th and Nic Bidinger had a good run going from 12th to 5th in the main event.

In the USRA B Mod division there was a repeat performance.

It was just one race ago that Chad Clancy took home the win for the 1st time this season. Friday night he was looking for the same result as he started outside the front row in the feature.

Clancy shot out to the lead on the opening lap after almost having a major disaster! Trevor Hunt almost slid up into Clancy coming out of turn 4. If those two would have touched it could have caused the ‘Big One’. Unfortunately for the competition that was about as close as anyone would get to Clancy on Friday night.

The B Mod division also showed a perfect performance on the track as they went green, white, checkered to the finish. No yellows, no crashes, no delays. Exactly what the fans love to see.

Clancy stormed away to the win. It was his 2nd straight victory on the season.

Andy Bryant drove to a runner-up finish, 3rd would go to the pole setter, Hunt, Brad Smith would hang on to 4th and moving from 10th to 5th in the main event was Chad Clancy, the points leader.

Tim Shields and Nick Newton have become a rivalry in the Grand National division at Lakeside Speedway.

Friday night it was Newton and Shields putting the field in their review mirrors as they took the battle to a different level. Last week was Newton’s night, this Friday it was Shield’s turn.

Newton and Shields would go toe to toe until a yellow came out on the field. As the green flag waved Shields asserted his dominance on the class as he sped away from the field.

He would stay out front for the duration and got the win on the night.

Newton would finish in the 2nd spot, 3rd went to Darren Kling, 4th was Donnie Brown and Steven Dibben logged a 5th place finish.

A flawless performance was turned in Friday night in the USRA Stock Car Feature.

Six cars broke away from the pack at the start of this big race. Kevin Anderson, Brett Heeter, Nate Barnes, Lucas Conley and Chad Walker were the drivers making the breakaway. Anderson had the top spot but would lose it to Heeter.

Heeter, last year’s points champ, looked to be on his way to another victory as he had the lead with 5 laps to go.

Hunt trailed Heeter by a good distance as they came around with 5 laps to go. Hunt didn’t panic, he didn’t miss his marks and he most certainly kept his cool under pressure. Working the low line in 3 and 4, while going up high in 1 and 2, Hunt kept knocking off a bit of Heeter’s lead.

At the white flag Hunt changed his line and dropped to the bottom of 1 and 2, it paid off in a big way. As he came out of turn 2 he would have the lead over Heeter. He also had Heeter’s line. It was the move of the night. Hunt dropped to the bottom and washed up coming out of 4 on the final lap and took the win.

It was Hunt’s 2nd win of the season after scoring the win on opening night.

Heeter took home 2nd, 3rd would go to Anderson, Walkker celebrated a nice run finishing 4th, and Conley would round out the top 5.

Jason Ryun would show the fans of Lakeside Speedway a continuation of his dominating performance for the 2016 season.

Friday night Ryun blasted to yet another victory in the newly minted Factor Stock division. Starting 3rd in the feature it would take Ryun long to make his move and run away with the win. Ryun’s performance so far has earned him a 77 point lead in the points for the Factory Stocks.

Marshall Jewett roared to a runner-up finish, 3rd went to Leroy Morrison, 4th was Kevin Pike and 5th was Aiden Lueth.

Action returns next Friday night to Lakeside Speedway with the ULMA Late Models joining the weekley racing action.
