Mayetta, KS – The weather conditions have taken a major shift in Northeastern Kansas. Saturday the temps were hovering close to 100 degrees and a big south wind blew all day long. Thunder Hill Speedway was ready for it Saturday night.

Big Time Bail Bonds added extra money to the winner of each class on Friday night and it helped pack even more excitement than anyone thought was possible.

The BSB Manufacturing Modified Feature saw each share of excitement and more.

Steven Bowers Jr. shot to the lead after starting outside the front row. At the front of the field he would extend his lead as the pack fought it out behind him.

The race would wear on and several drivers started to make their way to the front. One of those drivers, Jordan Grabouski, had won 3 features at Thunder Hill Speedway already on the year.

A late race yellow would begin the battle at the front between Bowers, last year’s track champ, and Grabouski, this year’s points leader.

Grabouski would wrestle away the lead from Bowers on the restart, but Bowers came back and passed Grabo for the lead. The two would battle back and forth on the speedway. Heading into turn 1 Grabouski would take the low line and Bowers the high line. As Grabouski entered into turn 2 he would slide up the track and contact was made between the two drivers. Bowers was not happy about the way he gave up the lead.

Exiting turn two Grabouski would have the lead and Bowers remained in the 2nd spot. Another late race yellow would bunch the field up once more. As this restart took off Grabouski went back to the point. Bowers would give chase and gave it his all but in the end would come up just short, settling for the 2nd spot.

Grabouski would get his 4th win of the season and $650.00 top prize for his efforts.

Bowers finished 2nd, Jeremy Chambers had another strong finish coming in 3rd on the night, 4th went to a hustling Tom Charles and Darron Fuqua won the battle with Kyle Olberding for the 5th position.

Big Time Bail Bonds added an extra $100.00 to win in the Bud’s Auto Service IMCA Stock Cars on Saturday night.

Not only did Big Time Bail Bonds add extra money they are also a primary sponsor on several race cars in the area. So it would seem possible that one of those cars could end up in victory lane.

In his rookie season in the Stock Cars, Dominic Thyfault, took home a track championship. His championship a year ago came from a bunch of top 5 finishes and it took him until late in the season to get his first Stock Car win. Not this year.

On Saturday night Thyfault started on the pole position and once the green flag dropped he took off to the point position. At the front Thyfault showed why he was a champion last year and is looking to repeat. Each and every lap he was on his marks. He kept his race car clean and out of trouble. Each time there was a yellow flag he answered the bell on each and every challenge.

In the end Thyfault would pick up the win. It was a Big Time Bail Bonds win all the way around as Thyfault’s primary sponsor is Big Time Bail Bonds.

Marvin Griffith Jr. took home a runner up finish with a good story on the night. Griffith had transmission problems after his heat race. He was going to call it a night, but another competitor, Matt Haid, allowed Griffith to borrow a spare transmission so he could keep racing. It was a noble gesture and a shining light of just how the racers are in this sport.

Jim Powell Jr. put together another strong run and finished 3rd on the night, Blake Peeler started 11th and finished 12th while Bryan Rigsby started 12th and raced his way to a top 5 finish in 5th.

Luke Stallbaumer is a strong competitor in the JAG Trucking IMCA Northern Sport Mods. The youngster is an up and comer in the area racing world. This season has been a year of struggles. Mechanical problems and timely wrecks in front of him have hindered his development. Saturday night he displayed his talents and everything went his way as he looked to pick up the extra cash on this night.

Stallbaumer got to the front of the field quickly. His car was fast and he set a pace that the competition couldn’t keep up with. As the laps wore on in the feature Stallbaumer would extend his lead. A few yellows dropped during the feature but each time Stallbaumer would jump back to the top spot as the green would fly. On this night it would be all Stallbaumer as he took home the top prize of $350.

The youngster, Austin Charles, finished 2nd after starting 13th in the main event, 3rd would go to multiple feature winner in 2016, Shawn Harker, Jeremy Pittsenbarger came from the B feature and stormed his way up to 4th and Brian Murphy rounded out the top 5 in 5th.

The Casey’s General Store IMCA Hobby Stocks were the first feature of the night. Several fast cars would highlight this race.

Tommy Fose took the early lead in the event.

Back in the pack several cars were making moves that each hoped to carry them to the front.

One of those drivers, Nicholas Ronnebaum, picked up the win just a few weeks ago. Ronnebaum worked his way through the competition and found himself battling for the top spot with Fose.

Ronnebaum would make his move and took the top spot from Fose. At the front Ronnebaum showed that his car was ready to go as he stayed in front of the pack for the rest of the feature.

At the finish it was Ronnebaum getting the win for the 2nd time this season.

Fose came home 2nd, Ryan Sutter, another 2x winner in 2016, found himself in the 3rd position at the finish, Tyler Hinrichs raced his way to a 4th place finish and rounding out the top 5 was Jason Cleveland.

Next week, Saturday June 18th, the NCRA/NeSmith Late Models return to Thunder Hill Speedway presented by Feldkamp’s Furniture. All the other IMCA weekly classes will be racing too. Make sure you are putting plans together to be at the Big Time Bail Bonds Clash on the Hill!
