ULMA racing resumed last weekend with two familiar faces returning to victory lane, each for a second time this season. Last year’s Rookie of the Year, Dustin Hodges, and last year’s overall Lucas Cattle Company Champion, Jon Melloway, each claimed wins over the weekend. Hodges scored his second win of the season at Callaway Raceway on Friday night in Fulton, Missouri while Jon Melloway captured his first-ever win at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri on Saturday.

Last week’s action began on Friday night at Callaway Raceway with ten drivers on hand at Callaway Raceway. It was a showdown of weekend winners in the main event as Hodges and Melloway squared off in the main event before Hodges went on to secure his fourth-career ULMA win. Melloway settled for second on this night with Jefferson City’s Chris Cox continuing his consistency by securing the third position.

Cody Holtcamp, Ryan Petersheim, Phil Edmondson, Chuck Melloway, Ashlee Lancaster, Dave Miller, and a returning Cliff Powell completed the top ten. Friday night action continues for drivers based in the Central and North-Central portion of ULMA’s reach at Callaway Raceway with another weekend of exciting action planned. Gates open at 5 with hot laps at 7 and racing at 7:30. The track is located at 7419 County Road 405, Fulton, MO. For additional information call (573) 592-7795 or (573) 642-6580 or visit www.callawayraceways.com.

Drivers from the central and northern region also have a Saturday night option as Randolph County Raceway (RCR) in Moberly, Missouri, resumes racing this weekend. This Saturday’s action at RCR is the first since early May for ULMA drivers, on that date, Chris Smyser drove to the ULMA win. Smyser is expected to be a heavy favorite when action resumes this weekend. RCR gates open at 5, hot laps begin at 6:15 p.m. and racing gets underway at 7 pm. In addition to ULMA Late Models, USRA Modifieds, USRA B-Mods, RCR Hobby Stocks, and RCR Sport 4 Cylinders will also compete. For general track information and event schedules be sure to visit the track online at www.randolphcountyraceway.com.

Last Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway, 23 competitors signed in for competition for three heat races and the 20-lap main event. Jon Binning, Jon Melloway, and last year’s track champion, Justin Russell, claimed wins in the three preliminary heat races. From last weekend’s track press release at Lucas Oil Speedway, “Jon Melloway snapped Aaron Marrant’s four-race winning streak in the ULMA Late Model division, holding on after a restart with three laps remaining.”

Kenny Mudd advanced from sixth on the grid to finish in third while Binning and Russell rounded out the top five. Lane Ehlert advanced from 15th to 6th at the checkers as Bobby Penney, Ethan Young, Phil Edmondson, and Chris Cox completed the top ten. Lucas Oil Speedway is set to host an open-wheel sprint car special this weekend as ULMA drivers have an opportunity to venture out to either Randolph County Raceway in Moberly or Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg on Saturday to stay actively racing. ULMA racing resumes at Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday, June 25th. Keep your browser pointed to www.lucasoilspeedway.com for news and information regarding Lucas Oil Speedway!
