Mayetta, KS – The temperatures are getting hot outside and the points battles at Thunder Hill Speedway are getting ready to heat up too! The Big Time Bail Bonds Clash On The Hill is ready to get going once again Saturday night, June 25th in Mayetta, KS.

There are several drivers looking to take home a championship and several of them are mathematically still alive! That means that drivers in the BSB Manufacturing IMCA Modifieds, Bud’s Auto Service IMCA Stock Cars, JAG Trucking IMCA Northern Sport Mods and Casey’s General Stores IMCA Hobby Stocks will be shooting it out looking to add a win to their season and those much needed, valuable, points!

After a couple of weeks of extra money, the purses are back to normal in each of the classes, but don’t think these drivers are going to let up. A win is nice but a championship will give a driver bragging rights for years to come. Look for the action to continually get better all season long.

What Happened Last Race Out at the Big Time Bail Bonds Clash on The Hill…
Right now the hottest driver at Thunder Hill Speedway is Jordan Grabouski. Last week Grabouski picked up his 5th straight win at Thunder Hill Speedway in the Modified division, and the win was worth $1,000. In the Stock Cars last week a total of 4 different drivers had a chance at the win but when it was all over with Jim Powell Jr. edged out Blake Peeler for his 2nd win of the season. Brian Murphy looked strong last week moving through the competition and getting his 1st win of the season in the N. Sport Mods. A first time visitor in 2016 took home the win in the Hobby Stock Feature, Jesse Vanlaningham roared his way to the win last Saturday night.

Setting the Table For This Week!

BSB Manufacturing Modified Notes…
5 is now the magic number for Jordan Grabouski. That’s how many wins he has already this season.
Hats off to Troy Baumgartner who celebrated one of his best finishes this season in 3rd place.
Last year’s champ Steven Bowers Jr. is looking to get on the winning track in the next few weeks. Bowers is having some solid runs this season but he hasn’t raced into victory lane yet, but knowing Bowers it’s just a matter of time before he gets there.
Grabouski is the points leader at the moment. Darron Fuqua is 2nd and Jeremy Chambers is 3rd.
It was nice to see Tyler Frye back last weekend at Thunder Hill Speedway. Frye the 2015 Track Champion & National Champion in the Sport Mods is looking for a Rookie of the Year Award in the Modifieds this season. Frye turned in a 4th place finish last week.
Jeremy Chamber is starting to figure out Thunder Hill Speedway. Last week he came home in 5th and right now sits 3rd in the points.

Modified Driver To Watch This Week…. Jeremy Chambers #17, Parsons, KS.

Jeremy Chambers is starting to pick up the pace at Thunder Hill Speedway. Last week he finished 5th in the feature. He is 3rd in the points. For those people that know him they know that he is meticulous and precise in his craft. This is his 1st season at racing Thunder Hill Speedway full time. The more time he gets behind the wheel you can bet that he is only going to get better. Watch the 17 this week, we think he will be up at the front of the pack again.

Buds Auto Service IMCA Stock Car Notes…
Our apologies for last week’s race night story. It was reported that Dominic Thyfault was in the lead when Jim Powell got around him. Poor handwriting had the author not being able to distinguish a 27 from a 24. Brandon Conkwright was the leader for a majority of the feature on Saturday night.
What a race the Stock Car Feature was last week! At the start it appeared that 6 different drivers were in the hunt for a win. At one point 2nd and 3rd were side by side chasing the leader and 4th and 5th were side by side right behind them. As always the Stock Car drivers deliver on great racing and excitement.
Blake Peeler started 10th and raced his way up to a close 2nd behind Jim Powell Jr. What might have been if the race would have been a lap or two longer? According to Mr. Peeler in Pit Pass Liquor Victory Lane.
The top 2 drivers in this class are separated by 3 points. Jim Powell Jr. has a slight lead over Matt Haid. Ironic, Brandon Conkwright #24c is 24 points back in 3rd.

Stock Car Driver to Watch This Week…. Blake Peeler #292, Trimble, MO.

Peeler logs a lot of miles to come to Thunder Hill and race. It’s good for the fans that love to watch this racer each time he shows up. Peeler is always one for excitement. It doesn’t matter if he is 3 wheeling all over the track, battling for the win or flipping down the front stretch fans love this guy and there is a reason, he is a NICE guy. Peeler loves to go racing and it shows. He doesn’t cause a scene in the pits, he is willing to help out his fellow racers and he promotes the sport the best way he knows how! This week watch and see if he doesn’t improve on his runner up finish a week ago.

JAG Trucking IMCA Northern Sport Mod Notes…
How about Brian Murphy? Last week he put the hammer to the floor and roared by the competition and got the win. It was a good way to rebound after battling for the win and coming up short the week before. It goes to show you that Murphy is a competitor.
Each week Kyle Stallbaumer is getting better and piloting a Sport Mod. Last week Stallbaumer drove to a 2nd place finish. He might have had something for Murphy but it looked like he missed his marks a couple of times trying to run down the leader.
The Northern Sport Mods show again that they are the most popular class at Thunder Hill as a full field of racers showed up once again last week.
Austin Charles continues to lead the points in the division, but make no mistake with a tough, tough field of racers this points battle is far from over.

Northern Sport Mod Driver To Watch This Week…. Bryan Bowers #77B, Topeka, KS.

Bryan Bowers didn’t come out at the beginning of the 2016 season. He decided to take a bit of a break and slow down a bit. He and his girlfriend bought a house and between that and his work schedule his racing took a back seat, or did it? Bowers has had some good runs in his limited time out this season. Last week he was near that front before coming in 12th. This season is looks like Bowers is a different driver. Maybe having a few weeks to sit and watch everyone has benefited this young man. This week could be the week where he starts up front and stays up front.

Casey’s General Store IMCA Hobby Stock Notes…
Jesse Vanlaningham put on a good show last week at Thunder Hill Speedway in the Hobby Stocks. In this heat he started in the final row and won and then for an encore he started 10th in the feature and drove away to the win.
It was another strong showing for Tyler Hinrichs. Hinrichs put another top 5 finish on the board racing his way to a 2nd place finish.
The top 6 drivers are separated by just 30 points in this division. It truly is anyone’s game heading down the wire. Ryan Sutter will have his hands full with this wild bunch!

Hobby Stock Driver To Watch This Week….Jaylen Wettengel #91J, Topeka, KS.

Jaylen has grown up racing in front of the fans of Thunder Hill Speedway. He started out in quarter midgets graduating to Hobby Stocks. Now he spends his time in the N. Sport Mods as well the Hobby Stock class. This season, Wettengel is getting faster and better as a driver. You hope to progress from year to year and Wettengel certainly has. He could have been our driver to watch in 2 classes but because of his 7th place finish last week, he made the watch list in the Hobby Stocks. Keep an eye on this youngster this weekend as he goes for a top 5 and possibly a win.
