John Brown Construction Kids Mods would see a new winner in victory lane as Sturgis Streeter #34S would lead every lap for the win. Streeter would hold off the hard challenge of heat race winner Cade Richards #1R holding him to a solid second place finish. Third place would see current point leader Destyn Whitney #58 with fourth place going to Laine Grenier #25.

Hobby Stock would be named best of show by track officials with great racing action from start to finish. Lane Chew #37 would lead early using lap traffic to perfection holding off the hard charge of Josiah Birkinsha #7SI to claim his second victory of the 2016 racing season inside the Cage. Birkinsha would end the night second with heat race winner Tobin Bartlett #28 finishing third. Lonnie Myers #62 would finish fourth with George Bruning #B5 rounding out the nights top five. Other heat race winner was Aaron Myers #14 who would be drawn and claim the best of show money.

E-Modified would see the familiar face of 2015 point champion Chris Dishong #41 pick up the feature win. Dishong would be challenged early by heat race winner Matthew Lance #12X who would finish second and Matt Dorssom #3D who would race from back to front placing third. Fourth and fifth place would not be decided until the checkers fell as Billy Spilman #63 and Josh Munsen #19X would race wheel to wheel to the line. Spilman would edge Munsen to finish fourth with Munsen fifth respectably. Other heat race winner was the #1 of Kyle Henning.

IMCA Stock Car would witness hard racing throughout the entire feature. When the smoke had cleared, Greg Keuhn #6X would be standing tall with his third feature win of the year inside the cage. Current point leader Jim Powell Jr. #20P would again come from deep in the field to challenge Keuhn but settle for second on the night. Brad Whitney #X9 would have a solid feature race finishing third with Chuck Warman #W04 impressing with a solid fourth place showing. Justin Merriman #25 would recover from early contact to end the night fifth. Heat race winners were Marvin Griffith Jr. #75M who would suffer a flat left rear tire taking him from contention and Josh Steele #94J who was involved in a first lap skirmish in turn one and two taking him from the race.

IMCA Modified would see Steven Bowers Jr #77 use heat race win momentum to capture the victory inside the cage. Second place would see Rodney Schweizer #74 and heat race winner Nicholas Carpenter #33 battle fast and furious the entire feature with Schweizer second and Carpenter third. Fourth place would see Mike Eisenhut #2 recover from an early race spin cycle to place fourth in the feature. Fifth place would belong to Kit Bailey #77K as he would make a rare appearance in the IMCA Modified Division.

Sport Compact would see Josh Conrad #08 pick up his third feature win of the 2016 racing season. Second and third place would be the battle of the ½’s as heat race winner John Willard #1/2CR would finish second with other heat race winner 1/2B of Steven Bunton coming home third. Barry Luthi #66B would put the “Purple Nurple” in fourth place with Christian Pease #9 rounding out the nights top five.

With the Cageman Series doing the Flagpole Dance they would set the starting lineup with a forward backward heat race which Brad Spilman #63 would win. Spilman and Pete Koch #4 would battle it out with Spilman picking up his second Cageman win of the season. Koch would suffer a flat right front tire and end the feature event second.

Great racing action was witnessed by all as the Power Wheels would take to the high bank track on the infield at Atchison County Raceway during Intermission. Hot racing action ensued as we had fire trucks, gators, four wheelers, atv’s, you name it the kids raced it. We even had one flipping as he come out onto the race track but like a true driver he comes out of it, uprights it and enters the race. As the race got underway the two girls looked like they were coming to the front with hot racing action until trouble in turn two would stop their forward momentum with Corbin Henning #1 charging to victory lane. When interviewed in victory lane, Corbin, a man of few words, said and I quote, “Dad taught me!”

Atchison County Raceway would like to thank all our Drivers and Fans for another night of great racing fun. And remember, “Don’t be Afraid of the Cage”!!!
