Mayetta, KS – Ladies Night at Thunder Hill Speedway ushered in a great night of racing action that some might have been hard to believe!

Would you have believed me if I told you that 3 of the 4 features are the night would go flag to flag, without any cautions? I didn’t think so.

The first feature of the night was the Casey’s General Store IMCA Hobby Stocks. A strong field of 16 cars were ready to battle it out on Saturday night, but it would be a repeat winner in the end.

Raymond Bosch and Lafe Garst brought he field to the green flag and once it waved there was a clear cut choice on who’s night it was.

Nicholas Ronnebaum came into the night with 2 features wins already to his credit. As the feature started he wasted no time getting to the front of the pack. He battled with the leader for a bit, but would soon take over at the top spot.

Ronnebaum showed his strength, once again in the feature, he never looked back as he put a huge lead over himself and the runner-up, Tyler Hinrichs. Tyler Garst, last years champ, finished in the 3rd spot, the point leader, Ryan Sutter, finished 4th and rounding out the top 5 was a hard charging Levi Henery (who started 12th in the feature.)

The IMCA Hobby Stock Feature would go green, white & checkered. No yellow flags at all.

The JAG Trucking IMCA Northern Sport Mod got off to a memorable start. At least memorable for the Stallbaumer family.

At the start of the race 3 Stallbaumer brothers laid claim to the top 3 spots. Tim Stallbaumer got the early lead while Kyle and Luke Stallbaumer were right behind the leader waiting to pounce.

Over the past few races, Kyle Stallbaumer, has been one of those racers that seems to be so close on gaining his first win. The only question was when it would come.

Kyle jumped to the lead in this one and didn’t look back. Stallbaumer put the competition in his rear view mirrow. He would work up a big lead and then held it all the way to the end. The win was Stallbaumer’s first win of the season and he becomes the 8th different feature winner in the class.

Shawn Harker put some pressure on Stallbaumer but had to finish 2nd, 3rd would go to Luke Stallbaumer, 4th was Brian Murphy and Branden Spanjer finished in 5th.

For the 2nd straight feature it would be a green, white, checkered finish for the Northern Sport Mods.

Everyone that was looking for a good battle in the Bud’s Auto Service IMCA Stock Cars. Each race this season this class has produced some of the tightest battles. This week a familiar face was battling at the top spot.

Former Thunder Hill Speedway IMCA Stock Car track champion, Marvin Griffith Jr., hasn’t seen the wins pile up like he would want them too. In the end each and every week he is still competing for the win or a top 5. Saturday night seemed like old times to Griffith.

Starting from his 7th spot in the A Main, Griffith was on the move from the drop of the green flag.

Griffith would work his way to the front and built up a lead. As we have seen in the past sometimes a lead isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. Jim Powell Jr., who started 10th, worked his way up into 2nd and erased Griffith’s lead late in the race. On the white flag lap Powell would make a run at Griffith.

Griffith would answer the challenge by Powell and raced his way to his 1st win of the 2016 season.

Powell would finish in the runner-up spot, Dominic Thyfault put together another solid run finishing in 3rd, 4th went to Greg Deters and Brad Labonte rounded out the top 5 in 5th.

As was the case in the first 2 features, the Stock Cars kept the string of no yellow flags on the night as their feature went flag to flag!

Unfortunately, the night couldn’t go the entire way without yellow flags. The BSB Manufacturing IMCA Modifieds would see a few yellows during their A Main.

Ronnie Burkhardt would lead the feature early. Burkhardt would suffer a bad break when his car broke loose and he would collect a couple of favorites, Steven Bowers Jr. & Jordan Grabouski, in an early caution.

As the race got back under way Tom Charles took to the lead. In a battle with Darron Fuqua, Charles would give up the lead. During a caution trouble would develop for Fuqua and he would pull back off the track handing the lead back to Charles.

Charles would battle with Justin Jergens at the top spot when the race got back under way. Charles would hold on to the lead but as the race wore on he would develop a problem with his ride and it would be a problem that would take him out of the race.

This allowed Jergens to open up a big lead and he would sprint to the victory, his 1st of the 2016 season.

Randy Wilson, who started 17th in the feature, would finish in the 2nd spot, continuing his streak of top 5 finishes was Troy Baumgartner in 3rd, 4th went to Kyle Olberding and rounding out the top 5 was Tracy Schaefer, who started 15th in the feature and finished 5th.

Next week July 16th its the Oren Covert Memorial at Thunder Hill Speedway. Fans will be treated to great racing action all night long and a FREE FIREWORKS display at the end of the night! Make plans now to be there!
