Mayetta, KS – It seems as if Thunder Hill Speedway and the Big Time Bail Bonds Clash on the Hill has been filled with nothing but special races for the 2016 season.

Fans this week will get another big race as the Oren Covert Memorial Race comes to Thunder Hill Speedway this Saturday night, July 16th! Racers will get a nice incentive for competing this weekend. Being part of the show this week every racer competing will get a $5.00 reward at the end of the night!Fans will also get even more as Thunder Hill Speedway officials have planned a FREE FIREWORKS DISPLAY after the races Saturday night.

A fitting honor for a man that would help any racer in need, Oren Covert. Not only will every racer get a $5 reward, but here will be extra money during the night and there is one of the hottest trophies out there, the OREN COVERT TOOL BOX! That’s right the winner of the Modified Feature will get to take the tool box home as a sweet reminder of the big event that he just won.

RACE NOTES!!!

What Happened Last Race Out at the Big Time Bail Bonds Clash on The Hill…
For the 2nd straight race at Thunder Hill Speedway there was a new face in Pit Pass Liquor Victory Lane in the BSB Manufacturing IMCA Modified divison, Justin Jergens. Jergens had to withstand a battle with Tom Charles before scooting on the way to win #1 on the season. It was only a matter of time before Kyle Stallbaumer would get a win in the JAG Trucking IMCA N. Sport Mods. Last Saturday night was all Stallbaumer from the start to the finish. Marvin Griffith Jr. thought it was just like old times in the Bud’s Auto Service IMCA Stock Car feature. Griffith picked off an impressive win. Nicholas Ronnebaum was the only driver that didn’t drive into victory lane for the 1st time last week. Ronnebaum raced his way to win #3 on the season in the Caseys General Store IMCA Hobby Stocks. Last week saw 3 features went green, white, checkered on the night!

Setting the Table For This Week!

BSB Manufacturing Modified Notes…
Jordan Grabouski got off to a hot start this season at Thunder Hill Speedway, but recently bad luck has found the 30 camp. Last week a collision at the beginning of the feature took him out of contention.
Last week Randy Wilson had a whale of a night going from 17th to 2nd in the main event. Wilson had to take a few hot laps at intermission just to make sure his car was able to go.
A string of top 5’s is what Troy Baumgartner has amassed over the past few races. Baumgartner could be looking at a visit to Pit Pass Liquor Victory Lane if he keeps improving.
Tracey Schaefer was another driver that had an impressive run last week. Schaefer raced his way to a top 5 finish after starting 15th in feature.

Modified Driver To Watch This Week…. Darron Fuqua, Mayetta, KS.

It’s been a couple of weeks since Fuqua got his new crate motor. The first week he was fast and this past week something went wrong on the car when he was leading! Even with all his troubles he is still sitting 2nd in the points with a shot at his first IMCA title. Before last week’s problems Fuqua had things going in the right direction. Watch for him to come out this week to make a statement. A statement that he is going to the front.

Buds Auto Service IMCA Stock Car Notes…
Marvin Griffith Jr. is a fan favorite at Thunder Hill Speedway and the Marvin Griffith fans were up and screaming for their favorite driver as he won last week’s feature. Griffith has been hit and miss over the last 2 sesaons, but last week he showed the competition his A game!
With a runner-up finish a week ago, Jim Powell Jr. has taken over the lead in the point standings.
The hard luck award has to go to Gene Stigall and Blake Peeler. Both drivers come from the Northern Missouri and last week they both had troubles in their heats and weren’t able to make it out for the feature.
Last year’s champ, Dominic Thyfault, has a way to go if he is going to repeat as champion in 2016. The 2nd year Stock Car Racer missed a race earlier in the year and it’s put him back a little further than he would like in the standings.

Stock Car Driver to Watch This Week…. Matt Haid #22, Ozawkie, KS.

Haid got off to a quick start for 2016 with back to back feature wins. Since then he has had some good finishes but he has had some tough finishes as well. Last week was one of those nights finishing in 13th. The finish knocked him out of the top spot in the points. Haid will be our driver to watch this week because you want to see how he responds. My gut tells me that Haid is working extra hard this week to get his Stock Car in tip top shape as he will want to get his points lead back and another win just might help him.

JAG Trucking IMCA Northern Sport Mod Notes…
Kyle Stallbaumer has been in impressive this season since joining the N. Sport Mod division. Last week in the win he finally put it all together and won going away.
Thunder Hill Speedway has seen 8 different winners in the IMCA Northern Sport Mod division in 2016. It’s the most of any class at the track.
A whopping total of 52 different drivers have raced at Thunder Hill Speedway in 2016.
Brian Murphy continues to climb up the points ladder as he continues his string of top 5 finishes in a row. Last week Murphy finished 4th.
The points battle is as tight as they come. Austin Charles leads Bryan Rigsby by just 4 points. The next 4 spots are separated by just 39 points. It’s setting up to be a good battle for the title.

Northern Sport Mod Driver To Watch This Week…. Kyle Stallbaumer, Tecumseh, KS.

Last week we were looking at another Stallbaumer, Kyle, but this week we are going to be watching Luke Stallbaumer. Luke is currently 10th in the point standings, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Stallbaumer might rise to the occasion this weekend. The last special night that Thunder Hill had Stallbaumer picked up the win. It’s been a little while since getting that win, but keep an eye on Luke this weekend and see if he isn’t battling for the win. It was a week ago that he finished in the 3rd spot.

Casey’s General Store IMCA Hobby Stock Notes…
Nicholas Ronnebaum is slowly becoming a dominate performer in the Casey’s General Store IMCA Hobby Stocks. Last week was Ronnebaums 3rd win of the season and each time he has won, it’s been by an impressive margin. Last week was no different.
Just like the Sport Mods the Hobby Stocks are having a great points battle the top 6 drivers are separated by just 35 points.
Tyler Hinrichs has come up in the runner-up spot more than any driver at Thunder Hill Speedway and this week he has vowed to throw everything at it but the kitchen sink this weekend seeking a win!
Last week Koby Minnis, the youngster from Seaman H.S., had one of his better outings of the season finishing 6th in the feature.
So far this season there have been a total of 37 different drivers log laps in the Hobby Stock division at Thunder Hill.

Hobby Stock Driver To Watch This Week….Jaylen Wettengel #91, Topeka, KS.

Jaylen Wettengel, is still a young driver, sometimes that’s hard to forget as he has been racing for years. It started in the quarter midgets, which turned into the Hobby Stocks and now he races both a Hobby Stock and Northern Sport Mod. All the laps he is getting every night is making him a better driver. Currently, Wettengel is 5th in the point standings and ready to move forward. Watch this weekend and see if Wettengel isn’t somewhere in the top 5 once again.
