A Fans Guide for This Weekend’s 60th Annual Hutch Nationals!

ncraHutchinson, Kansas – July 11, 2016 – The calendar shows July and that means one thing for fans and drivers in the central plains, it is time for the 60th annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Hutchinson Grand National Auto Races Presented by Midwest Superstore Ford / Toyota of Hutchinson, taking place this Friday and Saturday night, July 15-16. Below is a fans guide for all things “Hutch.”

One of the greatest traditions in all of dirt track auto racing kicks off on Friday night featuring the NCRA 360-ci sprint cars, NCRA modifieds, street stocks, thumpers and the AAA Modifieds/rookie modifieds and IMCA modified divisions. All divisions will run complete heat and qualifying dashes. Grandstand general admission for ages 11 and up are just $17; and children ages six through ten $7 while all pit passes will be $30. You can get purchase your $2 off general admission tickets at any O’Reilly Auto Parts store in that area. Grandstand gates open at 5:00 PM; hot laps set for 6:00 PM and race time slated for 7:00 PM.

Championship Saturday night will feature last chance features and the $3000 to win feature finale for the NCRA 360-ci sprint cars, last chance and $2000 to win feature finale for the NCRA modified, last chance and feature finale for the AAA modified/rookie modified and IMCA modifieds as well as a complete program consisting of heats and features for the NCRA crate late model division. Grandstand general admission for ages 11 and up are just $17; and children ages six through ten $7 while all pit passes will be $30. NCRA Sprint Drivers Ready for Hutch and $3000 to Win!

Hutchinson, Kansas – July 11, 2016 – Six-time and defending tour champion C.J. Johnson leads the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products sprint car division to the famed Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas for the 60th annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Hutchinson Grand National Auto Races Presented by Midwest Superstore Ford / Toyota of Hutchinson this Friday and Saturday night, July 15-16.

Johnson, going for sixth consecutive series championship, leads the current point standings by a mere twenty-five points over Lincoln, Nebraska’s Don Droud, Jr. Former two-time tour champion Jeremy Campbell sits third, 130 points behind, while Ray Seeman and series rookie of the year contender Forrest Southerland, Jon Freeman, Tony Bruce, Jr., Jeff Stasa, J.D. Johnson and Jake Greider rounding out the top ten.

C.J. Johnson is a former three-time Hutch Nationals champion, one short of retired Garry Lee Maiers four crowns, yet hasn’t conquered the big half mile oval since 2003. Droud, who is gunning for his first career NCRA championship looks to add a Hutch Nationals championship to his resume while Campbell won his lone Hutch victory back in 2012
driving for Gary Swenson. Jon Freeman tamed Hutch back in 2007 while J.D. Johnson is a former two-time winner.

Bruce, Jr. is looking for his first championship with car owner Danny King – who hasn’t fielded a winning car at the Nationals since the late Steve King won back in 2004. Rookie Southerland will look to win the biggest sprint event of his young career while Seeman, Stasa and Greider are all serious contenders in the “anything that can happen at Hutch usually does” weekend.

Outside the current NCRA top ten, former two-time Hutch Nationals champion Norman, Oklahoma’s Danny Jennings will be on hand in hopes to bringing the title back to the “Sooner State” while unconfirmed reports have Nebraska’s Jack Dover aboard the Swenson #24b for the weekend.

Just announced and fresh off his $10,000 to in “Boothill Showdown” Steve King Memorial victory at Dodge City Raceway Park over the Independence Day weekend, 305-ci sprint car standout John Carney will be piloting the familiar Scott Brown/Lubbock Wrecker #11x.

Friday night’s qualifying dash feature will pay $1000 to win while championship Saturday night’s feature finale pays $3000 to win. Complete format and purse can be found on the official NCRA website www.racencra.com

$2000 and Hutch Nationals Champion Await NCRA Modified Drivers!

Hutchinson, Kansas – July 11, 2016 – In the quest for his first career series championship, Derby, Kansas driver Scott Green leads the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products modified division to one of the greatest traditions in dirt track auto racing; the 60th annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Hutchinson Grand National Auto Races Presented by Midwest Superstore Ford / Toyota of Hutchinson this Friday and Saturday night, July 15-16.

Green comes into the weekend with a slim five-point lead over former five-time series champion Brian Franz. 2011 tour champion Tyler Davis sits 25 points out of the top spot while two-time and defending champion Dan Powers is only 35 points out.

Josh Lanterman, Ryan McAninch, leading rookie of the year contender Kyler Kemp, Gary Kilbourn, Ross Shipman and Jason McGehee around out positions five through ten in the standings.

Davis comes into the weekend as defending Hutch Nationals champion while Franz is a former two-time winner of the event. Powers took the crown back in 2014 on the way to his inaugural series championship. The rest of the drivers in the top ten are all looking to conquer the big fairgrounds half-mile oval for the first time and stake claim as Hutchinson Grand Nationals champion.

From 1986 – 1997 the modified division was unsanctioned at the Nationals with Buddy Mullens claiming five of those Hutch championships in twelve years.

Friday night’s will see all drivers compete in heat races and dash qualifiers with the night’s dash winner pocketing $750. Saturday night will see drivers compete in “C” features (car count pending) and two “B” features with the night’s championship feature finale winner taking home $2000 to win and bragging rights as 2016 NCRA modified Hutch Grand Nationals champion.

NCRA Late Model Drivers Ready for Hutch Saturday Night!

Hutchinson, Kansas – July 11, 2016 – The National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products crate late model division is set to tackle the famed half-mile oval atop the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas this Saturday night as part of the 60th annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Hutchinson Grand National Auto Races Presented by Midwest Superstore Ford / Toyota of Hutchinson.

Current point leader Chris Kratzer will lead the “gladiators” of the series crate late model division into Saturday night’s $1500 to win championship feature and holds a slim 30-point lead over Jimmy Segraves in Kratzer’s quest for his second series championship. Last year Kratzer and Dan Smith were co-champions of the division.

Veteran Delbert Smith, who won the Hutch Nationals in late models (1985 and 1993) and in modifieds (1988), is fifty points out of the point lead in his quest for a second career NCRA late model championship. Lyle Shepard, who leads the tour with four victories, sits fourth in the standings (-85) and Dusty Leonard (-95) round out the top five in the standings.

Ryan Grit, Rob Day, Daniel Smith, touring rookie Adam Popp and Justin Bussell round out the top in the standings.
