Kansas City, KS – Friday night, July 22nd, Racing On The River’s Edge continues at Lakeside Speedway as it’s Tompkins Industry Night At The Races! Fans should note that there will be later start times this week due to the excessive heat.

The races this week will see hot laps at 7:30 p.m. and the racing action will start between 8:00 and 8:15 p.m.

Officials at Lakeside Speedway ask fans and racers to start drinking water (hydrating) a few days before Friday night’s races. This will help as you dehydrate when you are outside. Replenishing your fluids is highly recommended.

As the temperatures heat up on Friday night the action and temperature on the track is getting even hotter!

The Joe Berry Clash of the B Mods saw a lot of the best B Mod drivers in the Midwest come out looking for big $$$ last week. In the end, it was part time driver, Yancy Shepard, leading the entire way picking up the $1500 top prize. Mark Schafman rolled to his 3rd victory of the season in the USRA Modified Feature. The domination in the USRA Stock Car division continued as Brett Heeter rolled to win #8 on the season. Tim Shields knocked down another win in the Grand National Feature. In the Factory Stock division Jason Ryun, once again, returned to victory lane.

The stretch run of the championship season will see points battles start to heat up as well.

Last week a few new faces showed up to Lakeside Speedway. One driver, Tyler Wolf (Fayetteville, Arkansas), even led a few laps. That was until the Lakeside Speedway regulars got rolling. Mark Schafman scored win #3 last week but he also closed in on Kerry Davis in the points. Schafman now trails Davis by 22 points in the chase for the championship. Several USRA Modified drivers will be looking to make their mark by getting into victory lane by any means necessary. This should provide for some exciting action.

When you talk about the USRA Stock Car division, you still have to talk about Brett Heeter first. Heeter got win #8 last week, he continues to lead the points and is still staring at yet another championship. Trevor Hunt has closed the gap in his first season of racing in the Stock Car division. This division is loaded with talent and that’s why Heeter’s domination is so impressive. As tensions start to tighten, look for some new drivers to find some speed and this class should get even more competitive.

The Big Money was on the line last week and this week it’s business as usual for the USRA B Mods. That means great racing! Chad Clancy had a little problem before last week’s main event. He wasn’t happy about it. That means you should be watching your points leader as Clancy should be looking to make a statement! This is the most popular class at Lakeside Speedway, more than 80 different drivers have logged laps this season. Look for good competition and good racing this week!

In the Grand National field Tim Shields continues to be on his reign of terror for the past month. This past week he not only got the win but Shields also took over the point lead. Nick Newton will be looking to find some extra speed this weekend as fans should expect Newton to come back with a vengeance this Friday night.

After a week out of victory lane, Jason Ryun got back to victory lane last week. As the season continues to roll on several drivers are beginning to improve and the racing is getting tighter.
