Mayetta, KS – All good things must come to an end! Or do they?

If you are talking about the 2016 race season at Thunder Hill Speedway then yes they do have to come to an end. Starting with this Saturday night’s races, July 30th, there will be 5 races left. That means drivers looking for a points championship will be working harder than ever and drivers that are just wanting to get a WIN will be doing whatever they can by any means necessary! That’s a win/win situation for the fans of Thunder Hill Speedway.

The Big Time Bail Bonds Clash on The Hill will again feature the BSB Manufacturing IMCA Modifieds, Bud’s Auto Service IMCA Stock Cars, JAG Trucking IMCA Northern Sport Mods and the Casey’s General Store IMCA Hobby Stocks!

RACE NOTES!!!

What Happened Last Race Out at the Big Time Bail Bonds Clash on The Hill…
It was a HOT night last week at Thunder Hill Speedway that saw more great racing action. In the BSB Manufacturing Modified division points leader Jordan Grabouski battled with Tom Charles for several laps before going on to another victory. Matt Haid continued his domination of the Bud’s Auto Service IMCA Stock Car class with another feature win. There was another repeat winner in the JAG Trucking IMCA Northern Sport Mod Feature as Luke Stallbaumer got his 2nd win of he season. After a couple of disqualifications Nicholas Ronnebaum got another win in the Casey’s General Store IMCA Hobby Stocks.

Setting the Table For This Week!

BSB Manufacturing Modified Notes…
The points battle in this class took a turn for the leader, Jordan Grabouski, last week. Grabo was able to get the win and add to his points lead as Darron Fuqua was MIA from last week’s race. With 5 to go Grabo has a 40 point cushion in the points.
Dylan Sherfick was the ‘Hard Charger’ last week as he went from 10th to 3rd in the feature.
Tom Charles, the veteran, showed that he still has it after a strong 2nd place finish that saw him push the leader for several laps last week.
Last year’s track champ, Steven Bowers Jr., is currently 4th in the points and has yet to drive into Pit Pass Liquor Victory Lane this season. Keep an eye on him and see if he doesn’t make a late season charge.
A total of 50 different Modified drivers have raced this season at Thunder Hill Speedway.

Modified Driver To Watch This Week…. Tom Charles #81, Basehor, KS.

If last week’s race produced anything, it showed that no matter how much kidding that Tom Charles takes about being the elder statesman in the IMCA Modified division he is still a contender. Last week Charles battled the eventual winner, Jordan Grabouski, for several laps. Charles has the equipment and the talent to get the job done. Our guess is that it’s going to happen sooner than later. Watch this week as Charles will look to back up his solid run from a week ago! Charles is a strong candidate to be the next new feature winner!

Buds Auto Service IMCA Stock Car Notes…
After winning a race 2 week’s ago through a disqualification, Matt Haid came out and showed everyone just how strong he is by winning another feature race at Thunder Hill in 2016. The win last week gives Haid a 30 point lead in the championship point standings.
It’s amazing that Jim Powell Jr. is sitting in the 2nd spot in points despite having a race night where he got no points! Even with all this Powell still has a shot at the title and my guess is that he will have something to say before it’s all over with.
Speaking of Powell he was last week’s ‘Hard Charger’ as he went from 11th to 2nd in the main event!
49 is the number of different drivers that have raced in the Bud’s Auto Service IMCA Stock Car class this season at Thunder Hill!

Stock Car Driver to Watch This Week…. Dominic Thyfault #27, Wakarusa, KS.

Last year’s champ, Dominic Thyfault, has had his issues in 2016. A motor issue early in the season caused him to miss a race and this hurt his chances of a repeat performance. Dominic and his crew have bounced back nicely, but he would love to end the season on a strong note. With 5 races left to go don’t be surprised if you see Thyfault in Pit Pass Liquor Victory Lane. Last week’s 3rd place run should show the fans that his race program is on the rise and 5 solid races down the stretch might be what the Dr. ordered for Thyfault and his crew. Watch this week and see if the 27 isn’t on the top of the podium!

JAG Trucking IMCA Northern Sport Mod Notes…
Here is the class where we have the great points battle going on! Only 37 points separate the top 5 drivers in the class. Young, Austin Charles is in the lead but Bryan Rigsby, Kyle Stallbaumer, Jeremy Pittsenbarger and Brian Murphy are all right there waiting to pounce, if given the opportunity. This kind of a battle should have the fans salivating!!!
Last week Luke Stallbaumer had to hold off his brother, Kyle Stallbaumer, to score his 2nd win of the 2016 season. If it wasn’t for some early on issues Luke might be in a stronger points position. His 2 wins show that he is one of the better drivers in the division.
Kyle Stallbaumer, Austin Charles and Doc Blodgett all tied for the ‘Hard Charger’ award last week as they moved up 7 spots from their starting spots during last week’s feature.
The IMCA Northern Sports Mods is the most popular class at Thunder Hill Speedway. A total of 55 different drivers have taken laps in 2016!

Bryce Frakes #27. Reed Bros. Racing Photos

Northern Sport Mod Driver To Watch This Week…. Bryce Frakes #27, Valley Falls, KS.

If anyone has been paying attention to Bryce Frakes they know that this kid is starting to break out from his shell. Frakes last week held the lead once again in a feature race and he finished 3rd at the end of the night. The progression of getting better each week is evident and it shouldn’t be long before Frakes is in the hunt for a win on a weekly basis. As strong as he was last week, we think that this might be the week that Frakes pulls down his 1st Thunder Hill Speedway win! Keep an eye on Bryce Frakes this week!

Casey’s General Store IMCA Hobby Stock Notes…
Once you don’t succeed, keep on trying until they declare you the winner! That’s exactly what Nicholas Ronnebaum did last week as he waited patiently as 2 drivers were disqualified in post race tech inspection. Ronnebaum quietly waited and when his car successfully went through tech he was declared the winner.
With 5 races left on the season the points battle in this class is going to be one to watch too!! Only 36 points separate the top 5 racers. Ryan Sutter has led from the beginning of the season and Tyler Garst, Nicholas Ronnebaum, Jaylen Wettengel and Levi Henery are all waiting to make their moves. Trust me it will come down to the last lap on the last night before this championship is decided.
Levi Henery has quietly moved up in the points each week. Currently in 5th, Henery could be a factor down the stretch.
A big time shout out for the youngster, Koby Minnis! Last week he was looking at a 4th place finish but after the DQs he finished 2nd, his best finish of his career!
40 different IMCA Hobby Stock aces have amassed points at Thunder Hill Speedway in 2016.

Jeremy Mulich #12. Reed Bros. Racing Photos

Jeremy Mulich #12. Reed Bros. Racing Photos

Hobby Stock Driver To Watch This Week….Jeremy Mulich #12, KC, KS.

Jeremy Mulich is one of those drivers that is still figuring things out. Mulich has spent some time at the every end of the spectrum during a feature. He has been at the back, the middle and he has even led some laps. As he becomes more comfortable behind the wheel the better he is getting. Last week he went from 14th to 8th in the feature. It stands to reason that if he starts closer to the front he just might make it to the top spot by the end of a race. Watch Mulich this week and see if he is not somewhere in the top 5 when it’s all said and done!
