Topeka – It’s been a little while since Heartland Park Topeka’s Big Time Bail Bonds Sunday Showdown took center stage. July 17th was the last race held at Heartland and this week they are going to fire up once again, but this time it’s special.

This Sunday night August 7th is Big Time Bail Bonds Night at the Races! That’s right it’s surely going to be BIG TIME as all the classes will be racing for extra money at every position in every feature on Sunday night. The BillsBuilt Race Cars IMCA Modifieds will be racing for $650 to win and $110 to start, in the Jersey Mike’s Subs IMCA N. Sport Feature they will be shooting it out for $500 to win and $70 to start and the Jersey Mike’s Subs IMCA Hobby Stocks will be going for $325 to win and $40 to start! The big feature of the night will be the Cars 4 Less IMCA Stock Car Shootout! The top prize in this feature will pay $800 to win and $110 to start. As of this article there is also $400 in lap money! That means every lap led in this feature will be worth an extra $20!

The Big Time Bail Bonds Sunday Showdown will maintain the same, later, gate and start times this week. Pit and spectator gates will open up at 4:30 p.m., hot laps will be at 6:30 p.m. and the first race goes green at 7:00 p.m. As the weather forecast is looking at warmer temps, HPT is looking to utilize the cooler evening temperatures.

What Happened The Last Race At Heartland Park…
The last race held at Heartland Park Topeka ended in one of the closest finishes ever! Steven Bowers Jr. edged out Tom Charles by inches to win the BillsBuilt Race Cars IMCA Modified Feature. Point leader, Brandon Conkwright, scored his 1st win of the season in the Cars 4 Less IMCA Stock Cars. Dustin Thulin became the first repeat winner of the year in the Jersey Mike’s Subs IMCA N. Sport Mod division. Cody Williams followed Thulin’s lead and score his 2nd win on the season in the Jersey Mike’s Subs IMCA Hobby Stock class!

BillsBuilt Race Cars IMCA Modified Notes…
Steven Bowers and Tom Charles did have a tight race last race night out, but more importantly Jordan Grabouski’s misfortune was their gain on the night. Grabo, the point leader, went out of the race while leading. Bowers and Charles finishing 1st and 2nd moved them up in the points. Currently, they are both tied for 2nd and trail Grabo by just 12 points.
Danny Holt is currently in 4th and only 25 points out.
There have been a total of 39 different racers register and log points in the Modified division this season.
With extra money being given up this week, it’s a good bet that some new and old faces could return this Sunday night to compete. Who will be standing in the Big Time Bail Bonds Victory Lane when it’s all said and done?

Tom Charles – Reed Bros. Racing Photos[/caption]This Week’s Driver to Watch… Mike Eisenhut #2, Topeka, KS.

Mike Eisenhut has been having a solid 2016 race season. He has traveled to a few different tracks and fared rather well. At Heartland Park he has put in some top 5 finishes and it’s placed him inside the top 5 in the points. It’s safe to say that Eisenhut is getting better week after week. Don’t be surprised if, with extra money on the line, he isn’t motivated more than ever to finish up front. Keep an eye on the #2 this Sunday.

Cars 4 Less IMCA Stock Car Notes…
Point leader, Brandon Conkwright, had a little extra time to celebrate his win last race out. Now it’s time to get back to business as the biggest race of the season hits this class.
Extra money will be putting this class on the ‘MUST SEE’ list this week. They will be racing last on the night, since they are the featured attraction. There will be 5 extra laps to be run and if this is like any of the races before, it’s sure to be a barn burner!
This season there has yet to be a repeat winner in this class. Seven races up and 7 different drivers have gotten out in Big Time Bail Bonds Victory Lane. This week will it be regular or a newcomer going to victory lane?

$400.00 IN LAP MONEY! These fine businesses and individuals kicked in $20 extra for each lap led. Jim Powell Jr. #20P. Reed Bros. Racing Photos

This Week’s Driver To Watch… Jim Powell Jr. #20P, Lecompton, KS.

Jim Powell Jr. has been one of the best Stock Car drivers in this area for quite some time. He knows how to win and he knows how to win big races. Powell currently is 5th in the points, but something tells me that this extra money will be putting him in that frame of mind to just win. Powell has won everywhere he has been in 2016 and Heartland Park is no different. Powell is 1 of the 7 different winners that have visited victory lane this year. Wouldn’t it be nice to be the 1st driver to double up on the year when the big money is on the line?

Jersey Mike’s Subs IMCA Northern Sport Mod Notes…
Dustin Thulin had to go and ruin it for everyone! Thulin became the only driver, in the N. Sport Mods, to win multiple features last race out. Still 6 different winners out of 7 races isn’t bad either.
The points battle in this division is CRAZY! Curtis Dreasher is the point leader, but 4th place, Thulin, only trails by 9 points. Heck 6th place, Jaylen Wettengel still has a chance and he is 34 points back.
36 different N. Sport Mod drivers have logged laps and points at HPT this season.
A Big Thanks to the Competition Director at Heartland Park, Andy Claiborne. Claiborne went in to his own pocket and put up an extra $125 so the winner would pocket an even $500.00!
Jersey Mike’s Subs IMCA N. Sport Mod Payout 1. 375 2. 260 3. 195 4. 165 5. 145 6. 120 7. 110 8. 105 9. 90 10. 85 11. 85 12. 85 13. 70 14. 70 15. 70 16. 70 17. 70 18. 70 19. 70 20. 70

Billy Carreno #23C. Reed Bros. Racing Photos

Billy Carreno #23C. Reed Bros. Racing Photos

Driver to Watch This Week… Billy Carreno #23C, Hoyt, KS.

Billy is a driver who is on the rise. The 2016 season has been good to Carreno and the last race it showed as he took home his best finish every at Heartland Park, 2nd place. Each week this driver gets stronger. What a great story it would be if Carreno could better his finish from the last race and take home the $500 top prize? It’s a long shot, but it is possible. Keep an eye on the #23C this Sunday night.

Jersey Mike’s Subs IMCA Hobby Stock Notes…
Cody Williams blasted from his 8th starting position 3 weeks ago to gain his 2nd feature win of the season. He is the only driver in the division to repeat. Can he make it a 3 peat this Sunday?
It’s another great points battle here. Dalton Ronnebaum is the point leader, but the top 4 cars are separated by just 22 points. This battle will go down to the wire.
27 different drivers have battled it out at Heartland Park this season. A strong turnout for the Hobbies.
Competition Director, Andy Claiborne, dug into his wallet again and pulled out $50 dollars for the winner making it and even $300 to win, then Dodd Proctor, a hobby stock racer, decided to put another $25 in making the winners haul $325.00!
Jersey Mike’s Subs IMCA Hobby Stock Payout 1. 325 2. 145 3. 105 4. 90 5. 80 6. 75 7. 70 8. 65 9. 50 10. 45 11. 40 12. 40 13. 40 14. 40 15. 40 16. 40 17. 40 18. 40 19. 40 20. 40

Driver to Watch This Week… Alex Boyden #4D, Harveyville, KS.

We talked about the points battle earlier in the article. Alex Boyden is one of those drivers battling for the championship this season. It’s been a strong season for Boyden to this point. No, he hasn’t gotten into victory lane yet. He has gained a lot of top 10 and 5 finishes and that’s put him in a position to battle for the championship. Last race he was close to running down Cody Williams before he settled on a runner up finish. Keep an eye on Boyden this week, he just might surprise you.
