Mayetta, KS – Thunder Hill Speedway and the Big Time Bail Bonds Clash On The Hill continues this Saturday night, August 13th.

Each week this season Thunder Hill Speedway staff and racers have given fans more than they could ever have imagined. With 3 races remaining on the 2016 season, one can only wonder what will be seen in that time!

Last week was Fan Appreciation night at the races and the fans came out in massive numbers. It was another in a long line of promotions that Thunder Hill has put forth this season.

This Saturday night the Big Time Bail Bonds Clash on The Hill will again feature the BSB Manufacturing IMCA Modifieds, Bud’s Auto Service IMCA Stock Cars, JAG Trucking IMCA Northern Sport Mods and the Casey’s General Store IMCA Hobby Stocks!

RACE NOTES!!!

What Happened Last Race Out at the Big Time Bail Bonds Clash on The Hill…
Last Saturday night was a beautiful night for racing. Cool temps and $5.00 admission brought nearly 1,000 fans out to Thunder Hill Speedway. Everyone in attendance got more than their monies worth! In the BSB Modified Feature Darron Fuqua raced his way to win #1 on the season at Thunder Hill Speedway. It was a dominating performance for Matt Haid in the Bud’s Auto Service IMCA Stock Car main event. It was one of the best individual performances on the season as Jacob Davis went from dead last (24th) to win (1st) the JAG Trucking IMCA N. Sport Mod. Win number 5 was hauled in on the season by Nicholas Ronnebaum in the Casey’s General Store IMCA Hobby Stock Feature.

Setting the Table For This Week!

BSB Manufacturing Modified Notes…
Darron Fuqua returned to race at Thunder Hill Speedway this season full time. It’s been a while since Fuqua won multiple championships while learning how to pilot a Modified. Last week it was the Fuqua of old as he drove to victory lane.
Jordan Grabouski continues to lead the point standings with 3 races left on the season. As of the last check, Grabouski also leads the National Standings.
Brendon Gemmill was one of several ‘Hard Chargers’ on the night as he went from 11th to 3rd in the feature.
Steven Bowers Jr. is also in the top 20 in the National Standings in the 14th spot.
52 different drivers have raced at Thunder Hill Speedway in the IMCA Modified division.

Modified Driver To Watch This Week…. Ricky Abrams Jr. #17JR, Topeka, KS.

Ricky Abrams Jr. decided to move up to the IMCA Modified division for the 2016 season. It’s not an easy move to make, but Abrams has had his ups and downs this season. Abrams has had good runs and not so good runs. It’s exactly what you would expect from a driver that jumps right into one of the most competitive divisions in all of dirt track racing. Last week Abrams hung around the front of the pack for a while before being shuffled back during a late race restart. The run at the front of the pack shows that Abrams has the equipment to run up front and with the more laps he gets the better he will become. Keep an eye on Abrams this week to see if he is up there again.

Buds Auto Service IMCA Stock Car Notes…
Matt Haid laid down another victory last Saturday night. In getting the win Haid is having one of the best seasons ever for a Stock Car driver and with 3 races to go he can start eyeing that championship at the end of the season.
Last week’s race was another one of those exciting events that saw a total of 6 to 8 cars battle it out up front for a majority of the race before Haid would take control.
Kyle Pfeifer had a strong run last week. Not a regular at Thunder Hill, Pfiefer put together a 3rd place finish after starting 9th in the main event.
2nd in points, Jim Powell Jr., and the rest of the competition will have 3 races left to make up some ground on the points leader. The battle is not over with yet, but the competition needs to hope for some good luck.
A total of 50 IMCA Stock Car drivers have logged laps this season at Thunder Hill Speedway after last week’s race.

Stock Car Driver to Watch This Week…. Brad Labonte #91, LeCompton, KS.

Labonte got a late start to the season, but that’s ok. Labonte is a veteran of the Stock Car division and a little time off never hurts anyone. Last week Labonte took to the front of the pack during the feature. It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, Labonte is a capable driver and has the will and car to drive into victory lane. Watch the 91 this week and see where he ends up.

JAG Trucking IMCA Northern Sport Mod Notes…
It was a special race that fans got to see in the N. Sport Mod division last Saturday night. Not many times will you see a driver start in the last position and end up in the 1st position by the end of the race. Jacob Davis stunned everyone as he picked up the win on the last restart of the night that went green, white, checkered. Davis not only pulled off the stunning win it was his 1st at Thunder Hill Speedway.
Two late race black flag events led up to the 3 lap shoot out at the end of last Saturday night’s feature.
Austin Charles still holds on to the top spot in the points with just 3 races remaining. Trouble for Bryan Rigsby during last Saturday night’s feature pushed him a little further back in the standings.
Hats off to the youngster, Jaylen Wettengel! Last Saturday night he scored 1 of his best finishes in the N. Sport Mods by coming home in the 4th position.
The N. Sport Mods have seen a total of 57 different drivers race at Thunder Hill Speedway in 2016.

Northern Sport Mod Driver To Watch This Week…. Jeremy Pittsenbarger #32P, Cameron, MO.

Last week didn’t start out so hot for Pittsenbarger. A bad finish in his heat race meant a 17th starting spot in the A Main. All Pittsenbarger did to rectify the situation was by racing his way from 17th to finish 3rd! Not a bad night at all. One has to wonder what would have happened if he started further towards the front? Nobody will ever know. Pittsenbarger has been on a tear lately and finds himself 3rd in the points battle with 3 races left. Is there anyone that thinks the former points champ still has something in the tank for down the stretch? Keep an eye on him, we think he does.

Casey’s General Store IMCA Hobby Stock Notes…
5 is the magic number for Nicholas Ronnebaum at Thunder Hill Speedway in the Hobby Stocks. Ronnebaum raced his way to win #5 last week. Many of Ronnebaum’s 5 wins have been dominating wins as he has run away from the competition.
It’s kind of surprising that with 5 wins Ronnebaum isn’t sitting on top of the points! Ryan Sutter has put together a sold, consistent year that has put him at the top of the standings. With 3 races to go Ronnebaum is closing the gap as he is in 2nd just 18 points behind Sutter.
Last week a newcomer, Brady Bencken, ventured to Thunder Hill for the 1st time and went from 10th to 5th in the feature. Not a bad run.
Last year’s track champion, Tyler Garst, had some bad luck last week as contact from another driver sent him into the front stretch wall. The DNF knocked him to 3rd in the standings and 27 points behind the leader.
In 2016 a total of 41 different drivers have registered at Thunder Hill Speedway in the Hobby Stock division.

Hobby Stock Driver To Watch This Week….Larry Bouton Jr. #3J, Topeka, KS.

What can you say about Larry Bouton Jr.? It took him exactly 1 race to figure out his new car and he has been on fire with a win and a 2nd place finish to back up his body of work. Last week’s runner up finish was a solid performance after running into the wall in hot laps. A wall is the only thing that will slow down Bouton at this point in time. Each week he is now a favorite to be running up front. Don’t be at all surprised if he is there again this weekend.
