Kansas City, KS – After a USRA National Championship in the B Mods a year ago, Andy Bryant hasn’t seen as many wins as he had at this time last year. Heading into the races at Lakeside Friday night Bryant was looking to change that stat.

Bryant would race out to the front of the back at the drop of the green flag. He would hold a slim lead before a yellow flag would set up a good 3 car battle at the front.

On the restart Brad Smith would slide by Bryant in turn 2. Bryant would answer that challenge but before getting out of turn 3 Tim Powell put a charge on the leader.

The 3 cars would go 3 wide looking for the top spot!

Another yellow flag would come out with 5 laps to go. When the green waved again it was Bryant, Powell, Smith and Chad Clancy all bunched up waiting for the race to get going again. The top 4 drivers would be looking at the win as the green flag waved again.

Powell and Bryant would battle neck and neck for the lead. Brad Smith was waiting in the wings and Clancy started to fade as they came to the white flag.

On the white flag lap it would be a great side by side battle with Bryant running the top and Powell the low line. As the came out of 4 for the checkers Bryant would gain the momentum and take the win with a push from Smith! It was another great race at Lakeside Speedway.

Bryant would log the win, Smith would finish in the 2nd spot in the end, a close 3rd was Powell, 4th went to Clancy and Luke Nieman finished 5th on the night.

Mark Schafman, a 4 time feature winner, took to the lead early in the USRA Modified A Main.

Not only would he take to the lead, Schafman would establish a big lead as Kerry Davis, the points leader and 4 time feature winner, was trying to run him down.

The top 2 would encounter lapped traffic. Davis began to close in on the leader.

A yellow flag would help Davis, and the rest of the competition, gain some ground on Schafman.

When the race fired back up Schafman began to change his line that put him in the top spot. Schafman’s car wouldn’t handle like Davis’ car. Davis would take over the lead as he went by Schafman.

Now it would be Davis that would put distance on the rest of the field. Each lap Davis would increase his lead all the way to the checkered flag.

Davis would sprint to win #5 on the year and it would add more cushion to his points lead.

The runner-up spot went to Schafman, Tyler Wolf came home in 3rd, Nic Bidinger finished 4th and rounding out the top 5 was Matt Dotson.

Justin Seifert and Steve Herrick would bring the field to the green in the USRA Stock Car main event.

Seifert would hold on to the lead at the end of the 1st lap, but the points leader, Brett Heeter, was on a strong run. Working lap #2 Heeter would work around the outside of Herrick to pull next to Seifert. As the two exited turn 2 Heeter was at the point.

From that lap on Heeter would extend the lead as he showed his power on the night.

Heeter wouldn’t be challenged on this night. He would pick up the win and extend the points lead for another night.

Trevor Hunt, 2nd in the points, finished in the runner-up spot, Seifert finished 3rd, 4th went to Chad Walker and Lucas Conley raced his way to the 5th spot.

Even though it’s a new class, the Factory Stock division is picking up some steam each and every week. As racers get a chance to check out the class it’s evident that it will only get bigger. The racing action is getting better each week too.

Marshall Jewett has driven to victory lane this season at Lakeside Speedway. On Friday night he put himself in a position to be there once again at the race finish.

Jewett got out to an early lead and would build up a sizeable lead, but with 4 laps to go a yellow would come out and set up a shootout to the finish. Or would it?

Jewett would sprint back out into the lead while a battle for 2nd would rage between the point leader, Jason Ryun, and Bud Wallis.

As the battled for 2nd it gave Jewett all the space he needed to run away to another Factory Stock win on the season.

Ryun would win the battle for 2nd, JR Billings slid by Wallis for 3rd, 4th would go to Wallis and Kerry Ayres would finish in the 5th position.

In the Grand National division Tim Shields put another impressive win on the board as he looks to repeat his title run of a year ago.

Shields got to the front at the drop of the green flag and never looked back on the way to the win.

Donnie Brown, last week’s feature winner, was 2nd, 3rd would be Nick Newton, 4th went to Don Marrs and Marshall Jewett rounded out the top 5 in 5th.
