Season Championship program coming up Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway

b17b36be-e0e9-49c0-8d87-70cbc0a4d84eWheatland, Missouri (August 23, 2016) – Track champions in all four divisions will be crowned Saturday night at Lucas Oil Speedway with the final week of the Budweiser Weekly Championship Series in action.

Bill Robert Chevrolet-Buick Season Championship Night Presented by KYOO-Your Country 99 & KPOW-Power 97.7 will wrap up the speedway’s regular season.

“It’s been a tremendous regular season in all four of our weekly divisions and some very deserving champions will be crowned on Saturday,” Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson said. “Not only have our champions found their way into victory lane multiple times this season, their consistency has stood out, week after week. We’ll be proud to salute them this week.”

Jeff Cutshaw of Bolivar is on the verge of his third straight championship in the Pitts Homes USRA Modified division. Other points leaders are Aaron Marrant of Richmond (ALPS Food Stores ULMA Late Models), Stoutland’s Derek Brown (Carson’s Corner NAPA Street Stocks) and J.C. Morton of Springfield (Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods).

Also on Saturday, the American Cancer Society hosts the Hickory County Relay for Life Cancer Survivor Night. Cancer survivors in attendance can sign-up for the 2016 Relay for Life at Lucas Oil Speedway and receive free admission to the race. It’s also Public Safety Appreciation Night as all police, fire, and rescue personnel are admitted free with ID.

“Of course, while this wraps up the Budweiser Weekly Championship Series, there is a lot of racing remaining at Lucas Oil Speedway,” Robinson said. “We’re looking forward to big events in September and October.”

Coming up Sept. 2-4 is the 6th annual Diamond Drag Boat Nationals as the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series returns to Lake Lucas. Also that weekend, on Sept. 3, is the Lucas Oil MLRA Larry Phillips Memorial on the dirt track with the Late Models joined by USRA Modifieds.

The Lucas Oil Pro Pulling Nationals are Sept. 16-17, the 6th annual Lucas Oil ASCS Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial is Sept. 22-24, the 3rd annual Lucas Oil MLRA Fall Nationals and Big Buck 50 Presented by Whitetail Trophy Hunt is Oct. 7-8 and the Lucas Oil Monster Truck Nationals-Eve of Destruction is Oct. 22.

Here’s a quick look at the Budweiser Weekly Championship Series chases:

Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds: Cutshaw has a commanding 202-point lead over Jason Pursley after a second-place finish last week – Cutshaw’s 10th top-three in a season that includes three wins.

Carson’s Corner NAPA Street Stocks: With nine victories this season, Brown is 201 points clear of Eldon’s Steve Beach. Third-place Johnny Coats of Joplin has been hot of late, winning the last two features.

ALPS Food Stores ULMA Late Models: Marrant continues to ride the wave of a four-race winning streak early in the season and leads Tommy Cordray by 59 points.

Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods: Morton holds an 86-point lead over Richland’s Tyler Brown after a solid fourth-place run last Saturday. Morton has finished top-five in all but two of the 13 features this season.
