Mayetta, KS – It’s amazing that the season will come to an end this Saturday night at Thunder Hill Speedway, August 27th! That’s right just like that, the 2016 season will come to an end.

Each division will crown the champions for the Big Time Bail Bonds Clash On The Hill.

The season has been filled with exciting racing action. Fans have seen dominating performances, last lap passes, wild wrecks and a whole lot more. Specials events have highlighted the season and with all the great racing action it has been a success.

Advance Auto Parts Championship Night at the Races will feature the BSB Manufacturing IMCA Modifieds, Bud’s Auto Service IMCA Stock Cars, JAG Trucking IMCA Northern Sport Mods and Casey’s General Store IMCA Hobby Stocks.

RACE NOTES!!!

What Happened Last Race Out at the Big Time Bail Bonds Clash on The Hill…
Last Saturday night saw a lot of late race heroics! Jordan Grabouski slid by Darron Fuqua on the last lap to win the BSB Manufacturing Modified A Main, Dusty Leonard roared by Chris Kratzer to win the NCRA/NeSmith Late Model Feature, Jacob Davis won his 3rd straight JAG Trucking IMCA Modified Feature, the Bud’s Auto Service IMCA Stock Car main saw Kyle Vanover roll to the win and Jesse Vanlaningham logged his 2nd win of the year in the Casey’s General Store IMCA Hobby Stock division.

Setting the Table For This Week!

BSB Manufacturing Modified Notes…
Jordan Garbouski heads in to Saturday night’s races as the points leader. In a nutshell, Grabo just needs to show up and he should become the points champion for 2016. Not only that, he has a good shot at winning another IMCA National Championship.
Last week’s battle between Grabouski and Fuqua was a good one. The more Fuqua puts into his IMCA program the more this 2 could begin a strong rivalry.
A total of 55 different racers have raced this season at Thunder Hill Speedway.
Last year’s champ, Steven Bowers Jr., currently sits in the 3rd spot in the points. Not exactly what he wanted, but still a very respectable season with the amount of competition that Thunder Hill has on a weekly basis.
Out of 13 features raced in 2016, the Modified division has had 5 different winners and only Grabouski has been able to win multiple features on the night.

Modified Driver To Watch This Week…. Jordan Grabouski #30, Beatrice, NE.

This week we are going to be watching each of the points leaders heading into Saturday night’s Championship Race! Grabouski is all but assured of the 2016 Thunder Hill Speedway Track Championship. This season he has 9 wins in 13 races, he won last week in a brand new car the first night out and he is one of the best Modified drivers in the U.S. Each and every week he has shown the fans and racers at Thunder Hill Speedway just how good he is. Even though he has the championship locked up, look for him to do everything he can to win another feature on the season.

Buds Auto Service IMCA Stock Car Notes…
Kyle Vanover hasn’t raced much at Thunder Hill Speedway over the past few years, but last Saturday night he showed that he still knows how to get to the front and win races.
The points leader, Matt Haid, stayed right with Vanover but couldn’t get by him. A 2nd place finish kept Haid in the points lead and with a 67 point lead heading into Saturday night, like Grabouski, he is assured the title.
A total of 53 different Stock Car drivers have battled it out this season at Thunder Hill Speedway.
Hats off to Eric Weyer last Saturday night as he was the ‘Hard Charger’ going past 11 cars on his way up the grid. Weyer started 17th and finished 6th.

Stock Car Driver to Watch This Week…. Matt Haid #22, Ozawkie, KS.

Matt Haid has had a very impressive return to Thunder Hill Speedway in 2016. This season Haid has won a total of 7 features this year. At one point he won 4 straight, a very impressive mark considering the competition that he raced against each week. Haid has really put his A game forward and it has paid dividends all year long. Keep an eye on Haid Saturday night, he could be celebrating in victory lane as well celebrating a championship season.

JAG Trucking IMCA Northern Sport Mod Notes…
A ‘Hat Trick’ is when someone does 3 of something. Last Saturday night Jacob Davis pulled off a ‘Hat Trick’. Last Saturday night Davis won his 3rd straight N. Sport Mod Feature. It’s the most of any driver in the class all season.
It was a first time for Chad Shaw to race Thunder Hill Speedway this season. All Shaw did was win a heat race from the back, started 12th in the feature and ran all the way up to 2nd before the laps ran out.
Derrick Wichman was the ‘Hard Charger’ last week. Wichman went from 23rd to 11th in the feature.
A full field of 24 N. Sport Mods started last weeks main event.
The N. Sport Mods have been the most popular class on the year with 59 different racers checking in to race for 2016.

Northern Sport Mod Driver To Watch This Week…. Austin Charles #81, Basehor, KS.

Austin Charles is a young man that comes to the race track with a lot of pressure on him. It’s not that anyone puts pressure on him, but his grandfather, Tom, and father, Dan, have had tremendous amounts of success over the years. Trying to live up to that can be tough. Austin has it and watching him race anyone can see that there is talent there. Saturday night Austin will head into Championship Night with 31 point lead in the points. It’s a good cushion but anything can happen on Championship Night. Watch Charles this weekend and see if he can seal the deal.

Casey’s General Store IMCA Hobby Stock Notes…
For the first time in a month, last Saturday night there was a new winner in the Hobby Stock division. Jesse Vanlaningham finally ended the 3 race win streak of Nicholas Ronnebaum.
Vanlaningham was also the ‘Hard Charger’ last week going from 10th to 1st.
Celebrating one of his best races last week was Levi Henery. Henery finished 3rd, but lead a few laps and hung around the front all night long. It shows that it shouldn’t be long before he is knocking down wins on a regular basis.
48 different drivers have raced in the Hobby Stock class this season at Thunder Hill Speedway.

Hobby Stock Driver To Watch This Week….Ryan Sutter #79, Rock Port, MO.

Ryan Sutter started out this season on fire winning 2 of the first 3 features on the season. Since winning his 2nd, Sutter never got back to victory lane. What he did do was finish in the top 5 almost every single night. This division has the closest points battle. While all the other point leaders can coast on Saturday night, Sutter is going to have to go to work. Nicholas Ronnebaum has 6 wins on the season and is making a late race charge for the championship. Trailing by just 8 points this battle is going down to the wire. If Ronnebaum wins the feature this week, Sutter would have to finish 8th or better to claim the championship. If he finishes 9th it will cause a tie and the tire breaker would go to Ronnebaum on victories. Watch Sutter this weekend and see how this story unfolds right before your eyes.
