Topeka, KS – BriggsAuto.Com Speedway has celebrated a strong beginning to the new race season. Fan counts, car counts and the fun level have been higher than every at the speedway. This Saturday night, June 9, 2012, the folks at Heartland Park will be showing their gratitude for our service men and women as this weekend will be Military Appreciation Night at the track.

Each and every years, hundreds of thousands, put their lives on the line to provide us our blanket of freedom which covers us. Every race HPT offers Military Personnel free admission with a current Military ID. This is a bold move, in which, the folks at HPT are very proud of and they should be.

Fans that enter the speedway on Saturday night will receive a United States American Flag courtesy of Heartland Park Topeka. Several other promotions are still in the works and should provide for more fun and excitement that the fans and racers have come to know and enjoy each week.

Another important tidbit of information that fans and racers might want to be aware of is the changing of our start times. Each season when BriggsAuto.Com Speedway gets into June, due to the extreme heat, they go into their summer start times. This means that the spectator gates still open up at 5:30 p.m., hot laps won’t get started until 6:45 p.m. and the first race will go green, now, at 7:30 p.m. The summer start times went into effect last week, but the time change was overlooked. Please make note of the changes and plan accordingly.

Racing action has become wilder than every at BriggsAuto.Com Speedway.

Last week Darron Fuqua became the first driver to repeat in the Washburn Tech Modified division with a win. Last year Fuqua rolled off 11 wins in route to his 1st championship at speedway. This year he back working on championship #2. Currently he is leading the points, but there are a lot of drivers waiting to take up the challenge of knocking Fuqua from the top spot.

After winning 16 features last season in the Pure Stock division, Zach Henery finally got his 1st win in the Super 8 at Forbes Landing Factory Stock class. Henery jumped from his 7th place starting position to quickly move into the 2nd spot. On a restart Henery wrestled the lead away before the 1st turn. He would waste no time sprinting to the checkers for the main event victory.

It was 1972 when Terry Bivins won his last feature on dirt. Forty years later Bivins found his way back to victory lane on dirt in the White Line CDL Training B Mod division. It was an impressive win for Bivins. He saw some challenges at the beginning of the feature, but by the end he had more than a straightaway lead on the 2nd place car. An excited Bivins celebrated in victory lane like nobody ever had before him. Ethan Isaacs maintains the points lead in the division, but Bivins has battled up to 2nd in the points and several other drivers appear ready to make a run for the championship.

Randal Schiffelbein Jr. continued his strong rookie campaign in the Casey’s General Store Pure Stock class. One week ago he pulled down his 2nd win of the season. The win helped him hold on to the points lead for another week. The weekly car count continues to still hover around 19 cars a night. As the car count continues to stay high, the number of possible different winners increases each night out.

Adult tickets are $10, kids 12 and under are $5.

Don’t forget about the summer start times this weekend!
