Wren Radio 50’s Night This Saturday At BriggsAuto.Com Speedway

Topeka, KS – The 2012 season continues this Saturday night, August 4th, for WREN Radio 50’s Night at the races.

One of the most popular promotions at BriggsAuto.Com Speedway comes to the track this weekend for 50’s night, but it also brings to the forefront a new business with a lot of history in the Topeka area. WREN Radio was a staple of the Topeka area in the golden age of rock n roll. It’s been gone for sometime, but some folks got together and started WRENRADIO.Net on the web.

The station spins the hits from the 50’s, 60’s & early 70’s, 24 hours a day on the internet. Fans can tune in and listen to the greats on their PC, laptops and smart phones. Several disc jockeys have come aboard and the station is off and running. It’s a new twist with an old formula and it appears to be working. The folks at WREN RADIO have also realized that automobiles and oldies go together like Root Beer and Floats! The gang is working hard at promoting car shows, rod runs dirt track racing!

This weekend there will be a costume contest for prizes, win free tickets to the “Thunder In Heartland” NHRA Div 5 Drag race and free ice cream as fans come into the race track.

The Super Saturday Showdown Series will continue for race #16 this Saturday night.

Last week’s wild night saw Tim Karrick get the win in the Washburn Tech Modifieds, Zach Henery won his 3rd feature of the season in the Super 8 at Forbes Landing Factory Stocks, in the White Line CDL Training B Mods Jeremy Chambers picked up win #2 and points leader, Randal Schiffelbein Jr., continued his winning was in the Casey’s General Store Pure Stock feature.

Action on the track promises to get even better this weekend as drivers who are out of the points battle will be doing anything to secure a win and for those drivers still in the hunt for a championship they have 7 more races to make their move.

Karrick with his win last week becomes the 9th different Washburn Tech Modified driver to visit victory lane in 2012. It goes to show just how competitive this division has gotten to be over the course of 1 year. Several drivers that have won in years past are still looking for their first win and that means that the number of different winners could continue to climb.

In the White Line CDL Training B Mods, Jeremy Chambers jumped in to an elite fraternity. It was his 2nd win of the season in the class and he now joins Mike Higley (5) and Lucas Isaacs (2) as the only multiple feature winners on the season.

Zach Henery won his 3rd feature of the season in the Super 8 at Forbes Landing Factory Stocks, but it seems that everyone is all a buzz over the incident between Steve Herrick and Terry Schmidt. Not only did he pick up the win, but Henery also moved into the 2nd spot in the points standings.

The Casey’s General Pure Stock division is seeing one driver, Randal Schiffelbein Jr., take control with 7 wins on the season. Several drivers in this class are improving on a weekly basis. Look for this class to tighten up down the stretch and possibly see some new winners.
