$1.00 Root Beer Floats Saturday Night At Speedway

Topeka, KS – The greatest promotion of all time comes to BriggsAuto.Com Speedway this Saturday night, August 11, 2012! That’s right, all the fans have been waiting for this one promotion, $1.00 Root Beer Floats!!!

The masses have asked for it and the good folks at Heartland Park Topeka have made it happen for yet another year. No limits on how many you can have it’s only matters how many you can take down on Saturday night. The combination of vanilla ice cream and root beer have everyone’s taste buds getting revved up for this week’s Super Saturday Showdown Series race #17.

In all honesty, the real promotion going on at HPT this weekend is ‘Back to School Night’ at the speedway. Kids coming into the track on Saturday night will receive FREE racing school supplies. The summer is starting to come to a close and some area kids will be starting school next week. What a great idea, provide students and parents with school supplies. It’s even better that they will be racing themed school supplies.

Just as everyone gets their school supplies, root beer floats and settles into their seats, it will be time for the greatest show on dirt. The Casey’s General Store Pure Stocks, White Line CDL Training B Mods, Super 8 at Forbes Landing Factory Stocks and Washburn Tech Modifieds will mix it up for the fans on Saturday night.

Last Saturday 3 new faces visited victory lane.

Tyler Garst used a power move on the high side to drive by the points leader, Randal Schiffelbein Jr. and Jesse Shotts a 5x feature winner in 2012 to win his 1st Pure Stock feature. Once in the lead Garst scooted away to the win. He becomes the 5th different winner in the division. As the season progresses more and more drivers are getting faster and faster. A sign that this class is getting more competitive.

A class that has been competitive all year long has been the Modified division. Last season there was a total of 7 different winners in 22 races. This season 10 different winners have emerged in just 16 races. Josh Everhart became the most recent new face to victory lane. Everhart ran a flawless feature to take home his 1st win of 2012.

Brian Murphy was the other new face to land in victory lane last Saturday night. Murphy, a former B Mod track champion, has had a tough go of things in 2012. Mechanical problem and bad luck have set in on the driver from Topeka. His fortune turned around last week as he and the current points leader, Ethan Isaacs, dueled to the finish. Murphy would end up beating Isaacs by a matter of inches at the stripe. The finish had to rank as one of the closest finishes this season, if not the closest.

The Super 8 at Forbes Landing Factory Stock feature was more calm this past week. Zach Henery stormed his way to win #4 on the season. From the outset of the race Henery wasted little time getting to the front and would go unchallenged the rest of the way for the easy win.

Back to School Night gets underway with the spectator gates opening up at 5:30 p.m., hot laps begin at 6:45 p.m. and the first heat race goes green at 7:30 p.m.

Adult tickets are $10, kids 12 and under are $5 and military with identification are always FREE. Don’t forget that you can purchase your tickets online before the event at
