Three Race Weekend for Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region

Three big nights of Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region Sprint Cars are on tap this weekend at two of the biggest and fastest ½ mile race tracks in the Kansas City region. Action starts Friday, August 17 at Marc and Page Olson’s Lakeside Speedway and continues on Saturday, August 18 on the Kansas City, KS oval.

Sunday, August 19 the Warrior Region sprints will be a part of the final grandstand performance of the 110th Missouri State Fair in Sedalia.

The two tracks will host the first-ever MO-KAN Sprint Car Shootout presented by Tompkins Industries and Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps/Impact4800.com.

The standard ASCS feature points will be totaled for the weekend and a mini-point fund will award the first place with an extra $500 , second receiving $400, third $300, fourth, $200, and fifth place claiming an extra $100.

A mere 25 points separate point leader, Kyle Bellm of Nixa, MO from Sedalia, MO’s Jonathan Cornell. Cornell currently has 3 feature wins with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region. Randy Martin of California, MO trails Cornell in feature wins with 2 for the 2012 race season. The point race is not just for first a one point separation is between 3rd place Austin Alumbaugh and 4th place Jay Russell.

Brian Brown has indicated on his schedule he intends to participate in part of the weekend’s competition. Brown is the defending Missouri State Fair sprint car champion from 2011. Brown is still on an adrenaline rush from his second place finish in the 52nd Knoxville Sprint Car Nationals. Also expected to join the field is Jack Dover of Springfield, NE. Dover has one ASCS Warrior win for the season.

Racing begins with hot laps at 7 p.m. at Lakeside Speedway and the first heat race scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The speedway is located at 5615 Wolcott Drive, Kansas City, KS
Action scheduled for the Historic Missouri State Fair Speedway begins with hot laps at 5:30 p.m. and racing action getting started at 6 p.m. at the State Fairgrounds in Sedalia, MO.
