Topeka, KS- The first 2 Super 8 at Forbes Landing Saturday Showdown races at BriggsAuto.Com Speedway are in the books. This Saturday night, April 20, it will be WestSide Stamp & Awards Night for race #3 of the season.

Spectator gates will open up at 5 p.m., hot laps are scheduled for 6:15 p.m. and the first race goes green at 7 p.m.

WestSide Stamp & Awards Night will be a special night for the fans. Fans in attendance will be treated to promotional giveaways, KidZone activities and a special promotion at intermission. For more than 25 years, WestSide Stamp & Awards have taken pride in providing recognition and personalization products to businesses, schools, government organizations, sports programs and individuals. They are a proud locally owned and operated business in Topeka and they are excited about joining the action at BriggsAuto.Com Speedway.

Every week the stars of the Super 8 at Forbes Landing Saturday Showdown participate in a meet and greet before the races. Fans can visit with the drivers, get their photos taken with the driver and the drivers will be handing out autographed pictures cards of them in action at BriggsAuto.Com Speedway. Washburn Tech Modified driver, Jay Bailey, and Ferrellgas Stock Car driver, Ronnie Moore, are the selected drivers for the meet and greet this Saturday night.

On the track it will be more of what fans have come to enjoy the most, GREAT RACING!

Last week it was only the 2nd race of the season, but it seems like it’s more competitive than it has been in years.

In the Washburn Tech Modified division Darron Fuqua, returned after missing race #1 to score the feature win in impressive fashion. Fuqua battled Jay Bailey early in the night and then went on to his 1st win of 2013. In the past 3 years, Fuqua has hauled in 17 wins, pulled down 2 consecutive championships and he continues to want more. The only thing standing in his way will be a tough bunch of competitors waiting to knock him from the top of the hill. Kerry Davis, Josh Henery, Jay Bailey, Steven Bowers Jr. and the rest of the modified aces will be working harder in their garages this week looking for that extra bit of speed.

Terry Schimdt put in a blue collar effort last Saturday night to win his 2nd consecutive Ferrellgas Stock Car feature. A new car for 2013 gave Schimdt a cause to be concerned before the season opener, but after 2 straight wins he might be calming down. Last season Schmidt drove to a championship alongside 12 feature wins. Don’t look for a repeat of this feat or if it does it will not come as easily as it did a year ago. The Stock Car division packs some of the most intense competition week in and week out. Zach Henery, Steve Herrick and Travis Tenpenny all got into the winner’s circle last year and it looks as if each week this season could be a dogfight. Good news for the fans of BriggsAuto.Com Speedway.

Fans at the track could be looking at a new star in the making driving in the Casey’s General Store Pure Stock class. Tyler Garst, like Schmidt in the Stock Cars, raced his way to a 2nd straight feature win. Looking back to last year, it was Tyler’s first full season and he landed in victory lane 4 times. He won the last feature of the season, so that would mean that he has a 3 race win streak at BriggsAuto.Com Speedway. This division has seen its fair share of stars over the past few years like Dylan Whitehead and Zach Henery. Is this going to be the breakout year for Garst?

The White Line CDL Training B Mods are elevating their status on a weekly basis. This division averaged more than 30 cars a night in 2012 and it had 12 different winners during the year. This season look for even more excitement. So far each of the first two features have been won on the last lap in the last corner! Last week it was Dustin Thulin taking one away from the early leader, Heath Murry. It was one of those races that you had to witness to get the full emotion. If the first two races are any indication of how this class is going to race all season long, HPT might want to invest in a defibrillator for the fans!
