Lucas Oil MLRA PR (Wheatland, MO) — After a weekend off, the Lucas Oil MLRA heads south this weekend to compete in the state of Oklahoma. Friday racing is scheduled for Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee, OK, and Saturday the wheels roll onto Tri State Speedway in Pocola, OK. “We wanted to take the series and Lucas Oil into some new markets this year,” commented Dan Robinson Series Director.”It has been several years since MLRA has been to either track. We’re glad to be racing in Oklahoma this weekend.”

It has indeed been several years for each track. The Lucas Oil MLRA last ran at Tri State Speedway on August 5th, 2000, with Leslie Essary claiming the win. It is even further back to the last race at Thunderbird Speedway. The year was 1997, and there were three races contested. A July 13th program was won by Bill Frye. Terry Phillips won on August 1st, and a two-day season finale on Halloween weekend.

Chad Simpson currently leads in the standings, with Will Vaught, Brad Looney, Terry Phillips and Dave Eckrich rounding out the top five. The Sunoco Rookie of the Year battle is close as well, with Chase Junghans holding onto the top spot. Complete standings are available onMLRARacing.com.

Practice will be held on Thursday night, April 25th, at Thunderbird Speedway, for drivers wanting extra laps. Pit passes are just $10. Friday’s race, The Charlie Fulton Memorial, is named after the former owner of the half mile track.
