Park City, Kansas – May 26, 2013 – Robert Elliott of Clinton, Oklahoma made it two wins in two starts thus far on the season as the he took the lead just past the races midway point and went on to claim the Bob Howard PDC and Mopar National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products sport modified feature Sunday night at 81 Speedway in Park City. An added $250 bonus from Western Flyer Sport Mod chassis out of Oklahoma City netted Elliott a $750 paycheck.

By virtue of acquiring the most passing and finishing points during heat race action, Curtis Allen started on the pole for the twenty-five lap feature but it was outside front row starter Ross McCartney who used his Sputs Racing Engine to power hi Biscuit Built race car chassis into the lead as the green flag fell.

Former series champion Todd Decker moved into the runner up position followed by Allen and Brandon Smith as the field completed one lap.

It didn’t take long for the first caution to wave as Damian Sieger spun in turn two to bring out the caution flag and two laps later, Cleo Adams did the same, in the exact same spot on the race track.

On the double file restart Decker would take advantage of his outside restarting position as he out run McCartney entering turns one and two and would take the lead. He would open up five car lead over McCartney by lap eight while behind him, ninth starting Elliott would move the Johnie Rauschenberg owned #09, Fine Roofing/ Whitson Hot Shot Service/Dakota Moore Consulting sponsored, Precision Engine Service powered Western Flyer sport mod chassis, pass Smith for the third position. Three laps later Elliott would dispose of McCartney for the runner up position before the caution would wave one lap later when J.D. Choate slowed to a stop on the backstretch.

Elliott restarted on the outside of Decker and once racing action resumed drove his car in deeper and got a run coming out of turns one and two to take the lead.

Despite three more cautions that slowed the pace of the event, Elliott would open as much as a half stretch lead over Decker.

While the leader looked to check out from the rest of the field, the battle for the runner up position changed as Smith was able to get passed Decker on with eight laps to go and would look to run down Elliott. He would get his chance with seven laps to go as defending tour champion Travis Johnson had his rough night end with a spin in turn two that also collected Choate and Adams.

But Smith, who has his only two career series victories at the speedway, could not keep up with the leader and Elliott would go on to claim the $750 first place prize. This, coupled with his $2000 victory during the season opener back in April, has netted his earning thus far in NCRA competition to $2750 and his fifth career tour victory.

Decker would hold on to finish third while sixteenth starting Joe Adams worked his way up from the field to finish a quiet fourth while Kenny Morris rounded out the top five.

The three, eight lap heat races for the twenty-seven car field were won by Allen, Morris and R. McCartney while Frank Graven took home the twelve lap “B” feature.

The next event for the Bob Howard PDC and Mopar NCRA sport modified event will take place this coming weekend as the tour makes their first and only appearance at Elk City Speedway in Elk City, Oklahoma on Friday night (May 31) before heading to Amarillo, Texas and Route 66 Motor Speedway on Saturday night.
