Topeka, KS – The Super 8 at Forbes Landing Saturday Showdown continues this week on Saturday, June 8, at 7 p.m. at BriggsAuto.Com Speedway located at Heartland Park Topeka.

Each family, friends and neighbors converge on Heartland Park to have fun and watch great racing. This week it’s US Foods Employees Night at the races! There is a possibility that, with a special event sponsored by a business, that new fans can be exposed to one of the most exciting sports in the U.S., dirt track racing!

It doesn’t get any better than great racing when you roll the stars and cars out of the Super 8 at Forbes Landing Saturday Showdown.

The first 6 races of the season are in the books and there are a ton of races left in the 2013 season, but fans won’t want to miss a single lap of action. Goals, dreams and aspirations will either be met or blown out of the sky on a weekly basis.

In the Washburn Tech Modified division the season to date has belonged to Darron Fuqua. The defending, two-time, track champion has started off the season red hot! After missing the opening night of the season, Fuqua has set off an unbelievable 5 race win streak. Not only has Fuqua won 5 feature events. He has won every race that he has been in during the season. That’s right, he hasn’t lost a heat race or a feature.

The competition in the Modified class is starting to get restless. Each week the drivers are going home and doing their homework, trying to figure out how to get faster. This in turn is guaranteeing fans that they will see some awesome racing action in a couple of weeks.

A wide open class is the Ferrellgas Stock Cars.

After 6 races this season there have been 4 different winners celebrate in victory lane after the races. This class has been so wide open it’s not uncommon to see 3 and 4 wide racing, last lap victories and several different winners.

Steve Herrick sprinted to his 2nd feature win of 2013 last week. In the last two weeks of racing Herrick has worked his way into the points lead and is looking for his 1st track championship. Herrick has been a long time racer in the class and would like nothing more than to win a championship.

In the White Line Training CDL B Mod division this season has been dominated by a former HPT Factory Stock champion, David Samuels.

Last season Samuels spent his rookie season in the B Mods learning the ropes. During this past off-season he spent more time thinking and tinkering than most racers and the work has paid off. After picking up his 3rd win of the season last Saturday night, Samuels has positioned himself as a favorite to win more features and make a run at the championship.

Forty-six different racers have participated in 2013 and that means the competition level in this class is like no other. Like the Stock Car class, there have been 4 different winners in 6 races. Fans can expect more winners and even closer action as the season progresses.

At the beginning of the season it appeared as if Tyler Garst was going to run away with the Casey’s General Store Pure Stock 2013 Championship. The youngster won the first 3 races of the season, but never count your chickens before they are hatched. In the last 3 races there have been 3 new winners. Garst’s lead in the points has been taking a hit each race since the first 3 races and now his lead is down to 38 points over the 2nd place driver, AJ Christian.

It was just 3 years ago that the Pure Stocks were struggling to find racers, now each and every week they are averaging 20 cars per race night and last week they had a season high of 23 cars in the feature. Byron Glotzbach won last week and will try to do it again this Saturday night.

Spectator gates will open at 5:00 p.m., hot laps will start at 6:15 p.m. and the first race will go green at 7:00 p.m.

Adult tickets are $12.00, kids 4 through 12 are $6.00 and children 3 and under are free at BriggsAuto.Com Speedway.
