5-10-14 Mayetta, KS – The racing was purely delightful for week number two of The Thunder Hill Speedway Clash on the Hill. Severe weather surrounded the area but managed to spare the Speedway on Saturday night. The Conkwrights’ and staff once again had Thunder Hill Speedway in great shape, working endlessly to make sure both the fans and racers have a great time. In the post-race interviews, every driver standing in the Pit Pass Liquor Victory Lane called Thunder Hill Speedway, “Bad Fast!”

The Casey’s General Store IMCA Sport Compact class took to Thunder Hill Speedway first. Dan Canady checked out early and never looked back. Canady would be the only repeat A-feature winner of the night, as he stood in the Pit Pass Liquor Victory Lane. Following Canady to the checkers was Lexi Boyden, Alex Boyden, Austin Umscheid and Morgan Ziegler.

The IMCA Hobby Stocks take the track under a new division sponsor titled the Bad Boyz Bail Bonds IMCA Hobby Stocks. With the on track action, Bad Boyz was a perfect fit for this race. This class put on a tremendous show, providing four and five wide racing from the drop of the green flag till the checker flew. Newcomer this season, Tyler Hinrichs of Americus, finds himself out in front of the field and standing in the Pit Pass Liquor Victory Lane. Hinrichs was chased by Travis Burger, Mallory Stiffler, Nicholas Ronnebaum and Marvin Griffith Sr.

The Belleville Motor Sports IMCA Northern SportMods had the fans on their feet during the entire feature. As they take the green, Troy Baumgartner and Bret Degand started the battle at the front. The racing was action packed throughout the field as Austin Carter raced his way to the front taking the lead. The caution flies on lap eight restacking the field but when the green drops, Luke Stallbaumer flexed his muscles and overtook Carter. Stallbaumer lands himself in the Pit Pass Liquor Victory Lane, followed closely by Austin Carter, Curtis Dreasher, Aaron Hilderman and Bryan Rigsby.

The Heinen Repair Service IMCA Stock Cars would attack Thunder Hill with a vengeance. The race looked to be for second place, as Marvin Griffith Jr. set the pace early with a straight away lead. With possible mechanical problems, Griffith loses steam, and begins to be devoured by the field. Lance Borgman takes the lead, as Brian Labonte makes several attempts to pass Borgman. At the checker, Borgman races into the Pit Pass Liquor Victory Lane, followed by Brian Labonte, Brandon Conkwright , Brad Whitney and Greg Deters.

Twenty-one competitors took the green flag for the final feature of the evening. BSB Manufacturing IMCA Modified drivers, Blake Peeler and Clay Hale, set the pace from the front row. Danny Holt, with his new power plant, took the lead early. Cory Wray, last week’s feature winner, started deep in the field and had his hands full of competitors. Wray used the same line as last week, racing way high into the turns, attempting to make up some ground on Holt. After a challenging start to the season, Danny Holt stands victoriously in the Pit Pass Liquor Victory Lane. Cory Wray runs second, with Clay Hale, Matt Stallbaumer and Kyle Olberding making up the top five.

Racing resumes next Saturday night, for week number three of the Thunder Speedway Clash on the Hill. All five IMCA classes will battle for the win, putting on the best Saturday night racing show in Northeast Kansas. Bring a friend and a cooler!!! Gates open at 5 p.m., with drivers meeting at 6:30 p.m. and racing to follow. Friend Thunder Hill Speedway on Facebook, or find us at www.racethunderhillspeedway.com.
