CDL Drivers Admitted Free This Friday At Salina Speedway

SalinaSpeedway (2)Salina, KS – If there is one thing I have learned over the years about race track fans, it’s the fact that the love FREEBIES!!!!

The best kind of freebie, FREE ADMISSION, awaits CDL drivers this Friday night, August 1, at Salina Speedway!

Landstar Night at The Races will usher in another night of great racing and fun at Salina Speedway. To compliment the racing action there will be a huge 50/50 drawing and lots of prizes to be given away.

Don’t worry race fans, even with the excitement in the grandstands there will still be plenty of action on the track. This week the BSB Manufacturing NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Models, Belleville Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, M&H Motors IMCA Northern Sport Mods, Budweiser Hobby Stocks and AutoHouse Towing Mod Lites will be in action!

Jesse Richter will try to keep his momentum up in the Modified division. Last week Richter became the 6th different winner on the season in the division. Competition is at an all-time high and the points battle in this class is starting to boil! Danny Morrison Jr., Corey Lagroon, Joe Cleveland and the current leader, Mike Petersilie, are all within 3 points! Several drivers are still in the hunt and it will be one of the greatest points battles in recent history.

It’s a 2 horse race in the Northern Sport Mod race to the championship. Austin Carter and Tyler Frye are 1 point apart. Last week’s win by Frye has given him a leg up on the stretch run. Will he be able to continue it this week? Nate Ginest is the dark horse in the race in 3rd just 14 markers back.

Mike Traskowsky has celebrated a good season so far in 2014. He has picked up a few wins and seems to be in the top 5 every single race night. Last week he marched to win #4 on the season and kept his status as the points leader, but this division is about as tough as they come. Cars in this class rely more on driver then they do on setup. On any given night any driver has a chance for victory. As the season heads down the final stretch watch as a few new faces squeak into victory lane.

The Mod Lite division saw it’s ‘King of 2014’ dethroned a few weeks ago. Danny Morrison Jr. finally had an ‘off’ night at Salina Speedway. The was all Justin Kinderknectht needed to pick up his 2nd win of the season and collected the Bounty Money that came with beating Morrison. Now that the nolvety is wore off, watch to see if Morrison can bounce back this week!

If there is a hard luck award this year it could go to Late Model driver, Daniel Smith. Last week was another prime example where it looked like Smith might score his first Late Model win at Salina Speedway only to see his motor go south in the waining laps. Former champ, Delbert Smith (Daniel’s Dad), was there to pick up the pieces and take the win. Popularity is still growing in this class and it’s making each week better and better.

Fans are also encouraged to take part in the Fantasy Racing League, in which a weekly winner will receive a FREE Salina Speedway T-Shirt. To play visit and click on the “Fantasy” link at the top.

Racing Friday night gets underway at 7:15 p.m. with hotlaps and green flag racing will start shortly after the completion of hotlaps.

Adult admission is $10, with kids 15 and under FREE with a paid adult, all seniors 55 and up are half price with ID and all active military are FREE with appropriate ID as well! Pit passes are $25.
