by Dusty Wiegert
MINNEAPOLIS, Kan. -- For the third year in a row racers at the Minneapolis Raceway will get an opportunity to hone their skills prior to the season's start this upcoming weekend. A test & tune session will take place Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, March 29-30.
The open practice sessions will kick off with pit gates opening at 4PM on Saturday evening and at 1PM on Sunday afternoon. Admission prices to the pits for practice are $20 per day with a special 2 day pass for $30. Grandstand admission is free and encouraged as the concession stand will be open.
This will be the first and only chance to see the new cars and stars of Minneapolis Raceway before the season opener on April 5, featuring the IMCA Modifieds, Advanced Auto Parts IMCA Stock Cars, T&R Dirt Construction Sportsman Modifieds, IMCA Hobby Stocks, and Lott Implement Mosquitos. The Long McArthur Mod Lite Series will open their season a week later on April 12.
Not only will the new cars be a sight but the newly reconfigured track will be as well. Improvements were made over the off season to give the racers and fans more competitive racing at what is expected to be higher speeds.
